I suppose he's wagering that losing to top names doesn't hurt your street value all that much, whilst getting sparked by a Brit in his own weight division would make him a busted flush

I reckon folk would slate him no matter what option he picked.

The guy has taken the toughest option out there. As he always has done throughout his career, yet folk still find a way to call him.

Fuck me sideways.

Dicks.

He's taken a big pay day where if he loses, people will just say it was expected as he's miles outside his weight division. What a hero.

I don't care as much as you seem to, but the actual tough road is to take 50/50 fights where you have something to lose.

Got to disagree. Nothing but admiration for him for taking this fight, just seems mental to me as I was certain the Brook fight would happen. If he loses, people won't go easy on him because it was expected - they'll just say exactly what you're saying. If he wins however...

No one will think less of him for losing this fight. It's pretty smart the more I think about it; all upside if he manages the performance of his career. If he loses, he's still a credible name to take other big fights. Losing to Brook doesn't have the same optionality, and winning probably doesn't gain him much internationally.

Must be making a packet to accept such an awful match-up. Fighting someone bigger and better than you isn't often a great career move.

Why isn't he fighting at The Reebok?

You might be right. Nobody knows his thinking apart from him. Either way, I'll absolutely LOVE it if he wins this one.

Smaller, faster mayweather boxed canelos ears off so it may not be as one sided as first appears. At least it's shut up brook on Twitter.

Think I'm gonna venture over for this, Canelo ain't that special. The atmosphere will be great with the Mexicans in town too

Cinco de Mayo weekend. Vegas will be full up with Mexicans, would be great to be there.

Good shout, also think Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarsh has a good point about Khan's rep staying intact if he loses. Alvarez only has that Mayweather fight as a blot on his record.

Great move for Khan

Take the big money fights all day

If you're in the fight business you have a a small window to make you're living

Get in and get out and make as much money as possible

Fuck Brook, does he actually sell PPV's yet?

Doesn't L.A Steve usually go to Vegas for Khans fights? I'm sure we could sink some beers and reminisce over the good times (and hopefully celebrate staying up)

Win win, khan needs a statue in Bolton, proper bolton legand.

Its all about money for Khan. He doesn't fancy a fight against Brook, but will take a big risk against

a heavier puncher. As a boxer who can't take a punch he could end up on his arse, again.

That's what it should be about, it's a job, make as much money as possible before the head trauma starts

The lads got balls moving up to MW, Canelo is much bigger

woah there

Rigondeaux reduced to fighting a nobody on a Frank Warren card.

Just as talented and boring as Mayweather, doesn't look like he'll ever turn it in to cash in the same way.

I've booked to go to Vegas for the Khan fight, will probably be a bit shit but a great place to see a bit shit fight. I actually think Khan might do ok if his defence had improved.

He showed against Maidana he can take a whack but the ginger Mexican is different gravy to Maidana

Is the Mexican really a ginger, or does his dad dye his hair?

  • 2 weeks later...

Quigg Frampton finally next week, should be a cracker. Quigg for me

Im not sure, close one. Going for Quigg.

He is the fittest boxer in the UK.

Edited by Pablo

I'm going Quigg too - 7th round stoppage. Quigg is bigger, more experienced, had better training partners and is starting to carry more power than he's had previously.

That said, it is still a 50/50 fight, should be a belter

did anyone watch the gloves are off, is it worth a watch?
