Don't be crying when Smithills disappears though as it's coming. Not a single one of its post is football related, as such. I don't think they've been to a game for fucking years. It's just a vehicle for them to spill their bile at the world.

Lighten up, Carlos.

I'm a home seaon ticket holder, go to the occasional away games, watch loads of non-league football (as a contrast), and I'm an old codger who was at the '58 Cup Final. And, like Smithills & Mounts, I criticise when I think something's wrong. It's just an alternative point of view and just as valid.

Here's to a good summer of DF sorting the current squad out, and a cracking 2013/14 season.

Back on topic, I hope this is the start of resoving the club's poor fitness record over the past few seasons.

I'm no expert on the fitness of sportsmen but surely some of our injury record has been down to bad luck. Holden's initial injury and Chungy's were just from reckless opposition challenges.

Having said that I agree with the general point. We used to get players back from routine injuries much more quickly in Big Sam's day - a return to that would be a result.

if you're fitter, maybe you think/move quicker and don't have to dive into tackles

if you're fitter maybe you play more accurate passes that don't require your mate to dive into tackles

dunno, just thinking out loud

I'm sure you're right. Tho' the tackles on Holden and Chungy probably aren't good examples of what you're saying in that they were just irresponsible and reckless regardless of the fitness of the victim. Or to put it more succinctly, Evans is still a twat.

If you have this equipment at your disposal, what kind of fuckwit would decide not to use it?

I don't get what is gained by not using something that is going to make your players fitter, stronger and more than likely injured for less of the season.

Surely it's just common sense to use it?

That piece about Mark Leather in the Bolton News says Ngog is a long term injury victim. I knew he picked up a bad knock at Leicester but I'd no idea it was long term. How long's he out for? Anybody know?

I'm sure it was 3 months

But what if it doesn't improve your ping-pong serve?

I'm presuming not everyone knows how to use it properly/effectively

It's a mindset and a way of doing things that megson and coyle didn't subscribe too, no problem with them doing things their own way in that respect

If it is that good, then every club that could afford it would use them, but I bet they don't

Allardyce realised the advantages when in Florida, and the Amercan Football team whose facilities they shared used to max effect. The best physios etc are well worth their salaries if injury times are halved - as they often are.

This was one of Paisley's advantage at Liverpool. it was reckoned he was unerringly accurate in assessing injuries.

Of course, any misdiagnosis will prove costly, and 3 weeks suddenly becomes 6.

In Coyles defence he probably saw it as the "Spawn of the Devil"

Aye but I'm guessing Allardyce wasn't too sure on how to use the equipment himself, but he employed experts that do and it clearly worked effectively.

To then come in and decide that it was pointless and to get rid of it is beyond stupid.

We need every advantage we can get, if that was giving us even a minor advantage by bringing a few players back a few weeks earlier or by meaning our players can run for an extra 5 minutes then its worth it for me.

Just another reason to add to how clueless Megson/Coyle were, and how Dougie clearly has something between his ears and is thinking of every possible way to give us that edge.

Aye but I'm guessing Allardyce wasn't too sure on how to use the equipment himself

He'll tell you he knew exactly how they worked though :rolleyes2:

Great to have one of our own back....wore his Bolton shirt under his Liverpool tracksuit when we played them in the League Cup Final....Roy Evans was well pissed off....welcome home Mark...

Hold on, so this is another jobs fer boys situation?

Hold on, so this is another jobs fer boys situation?

Highly unlikely

That's when you're recruited by pals because of that fact; not because you're really good at what you do

I don't see DF allowing anyone but a top pro vetted by his team in the backroom. Unless DF is simply first team coach like Steve Clarke @ West Brom

People like Mark Leather don't come cheap, which is why some have had to go. He is one of the top guys in his field and will bring back a much higher level of service IMO.

He was poached by Peter Reid when Sunderland went up in 2000 because of his knowledge, and was replaced by another expert in Mark Taylor who is still at Fulham but has offices in central London.

Mark Leather is a true Wanderer as said and does a lot of work with the egg chasing players in the super league.

He did take some stick when at Liverpool for allegedly bringing Michael Owen back from injury to soon, something he denies completely.

Hopefully the days of losing half the team to niggling injuries will be fewer than last couple of seasons.

It's utter unfounded bollocks that they didn't use the Cryogenic chambers under Coyle, I know for a fact they used to keep the Calippos in there.

That's bollocks

They're used to preserve Chris Eagles' eyebrows inbetween games

Rumour has it that Emma Davies has asked if the kids can use them to sleep until SKD finds another club....they're currently very upset

Actually, Martin Petrov was using it to sleep during the daytime and store his supply of True Blood.

They would not let Emma near it, due to her taking the core temp down to an unsafe level..
