Freedmans Piece Int Ben Today

Quite a good article , comes across well and as somebody who has done his homework and research into the club and our history. Maybe i dont like what i have seen this season but we are a long long way off seeing a djorkaeff, okocha, hierro etc. We are where we are right now, a lot of us have been through a lot lot worse but we should stick together and get to the other side - in time. Bwfc a passion not a 10 year fashion.

You win! :-)

Don't see why not. Why else would we sack a manager? Because he's got ginger hair?

Anyway, I'm all for sacking loads of managers. Let's reinvent ourselves. Turn into one of those clubs that goes through loads. But even more extreme - see if we can get into ten managers for the season. Won't make any difference, but it might be funny.

They'll probably do a humourous piece about us on Football Focus -  "Oh and Bolton have sacked _another_ manager...."

And we could make it a selling point: "Think you're a good manager? How long do you think you'd last at the Wanderers?" That'd sort the men from the boys.

So Freedman out. And whoever his replacement is out, too, immediately after appointing him.

The replacement's replacement can have until November before he slings his hook.

are you showing your ugly mug tomorrow or will she not let you play out?

He can't. He's still got a load of old mouldy stock left over that needs using up. Some of it's been festering for years. His cupboards are full of the stuff!

I've heard this, a lot.

Can he not use some fresh new home produced ingredients?

Got to give them chance to mature before you pick them

Not allowed. But he'll be in that London after the game, and Brighton on Sunday.

surely dougie went to the board with a plan for the season, either if they agree with his plans they should back him, if not then they should get shut of him, Garside its over to you.

dougies problem is he doesn't know his best formation or team which after so many games this season is very poor.

I'de like to back dougie but he doesn't make it easy for himself by tinkering so much. play your best 11 and stick to it baring injury and suspension.

Dougie sets up to play against the opposition rather than picking the 'strongest 11' every week. Which is fine if your tactically strong enough to deal with that and your players can cope with the general change in set up every week. But we can't cope with those changes, certainly in retaining possesion or atleast not being under the cosh all match. Therefore for me, as a supposed top team we should fuck this whole stop the opposition first approach and get back to thinking we can play our own game and let the likes of Leicester and forest worry about us for a change.

We need stability, we need foundations, the proverbial Rome was'nt built in a day comes to mind, Dougie is astute, he knows the problems, and I'm guessing he would love to address them, but he is financially embarrased, look beyond the here and now, and I'm sure he will get it spot on, but firstly he needs to rid us of all these mercanaries that turn out just for the wonga, once that happens and he has 11 men with fire in their bellies we will push on, and we will be better for it, think back to Tuesday, a lot of Derby fans wanted rid of Clough Jr, for ages, but they stuck with him, and why? because he had a plan, now that plsn is bearing fruit, ok it took x amount of years, but he is now being rewarded , I'm not looking forward to this season, but going forward, when the deadwood has been shipped out and young hungry players are brought in, then and only then will I judge Dougie, any manager would struggle wih our lot, but Dougie does at least have a plan b-c and a, I purposley went for a-b firstly because his plan a seems to be go out not to lose. in short, we need to keep behind the team, especially Dougie, he will get it right, when is anybodies

"“You look at teams who have won promotion and stayed up there and they always built with a good foundation. I had a good conversation with Steve Clarke last week and he said he was the seventh manager they had before they got to that stage."

Why was he chatting to West Brom manager? Dawson?

Where's them straws

No doubt he's keeping in close contact with WBA should the Dawson situation change and also the young striker were interested in, no doubt both managers being jocks might make the deal/deals happen at some stage.

Sometimes you have to go backwards to go forwards, get back to basics and then move on, unfortunately for DF he's joined us at this point. Bigger and better clubs have had to do this, it's painful but it's where we are. You could dust down owd whiskey nose and even he would struggle with some of these clowns who pull on a white/orange shirt every saturday. Lets not push the panic button just yet

With Dougie

Assuming he didn't just come here for a payday; and I thoroughly believe that wont have been sole motivator:

He moved to us instead of Palace, essentially because we were set up better and as I read it, had more ammunition for a challenge of promotion

I doubt when it was "sold" to DF it was based just on one season (last season). Palace going up is simply incidental & from where we were when he took over, all parties must've discussed next (this) season being the one when DF would have the most chance of success...

So

Do we reckon the board have "changed" their plans? Reading between the lines, they must've promised him funds mustn't they??

I know Nixon was quoted in the transfer window of saying the Manager was pissed off, but who knows about credence with him in the post OC era...

I'm not a normal big critic of the board for the sake of it, but I can't help but get the feeling he may have been stitched up a bit...??

He still needs to stop pissing about and settle on a formation and team and work with them, but it worries me. And if it comes out that has happened and DF doesn't work out (he coul walk but i doubt it) we may be looking at extremely limited choices in the future.

This is the kind of supposition that, if it became reality, I'd be with the Gartside out mob...

Its not like he has had his hands tied.

Must have brought in 10/12 players in the 12 months he's been here.

So do you think he's been given the provisions he was waxing lyrically about when he joined us?

I seriously doubt it

He was waxing lyrically about the quality of the squad when he joined us.

no wonder

coyle even said we started last season with the squad he would've wanted to have in the prem
