Just tucking into a mug of black peas. Stink to high heaven but I bleeding love them! Get called a dirty bastard at work when people have never tried them. Weirdos.

just made a treacle toffee vodka last week, its decent.

Carr's pasties, black peas, parkin and a few pints of bitter equals one hell of a dutch oven for the wife.

Best time of the year for food

Love Bommy night

Best time of the year full stop. I love Autumn.

You can buy them on their website: £65 for 4 dozen inc postage.

4 dozen, what the fuck do I want with 62 pasties?

Nipped into greenhalshs for a bottle of water and saw they had big tubs ready done for £1.50. No patience to make my own so they are a god send.

i saw them the other day are they any good ???

Yep, just threw a Load of vinegar in.

Black peas are heaven and the taste of Bommy night for me. That and tater ash with red cabbage swimming in vinegar.

I've got a bag of spuds and a few onions gagging to become lobby here. Anybody passing later this week is welcome to partake

Oh and I've a red cabbage, I'm going to try a spot of pickling

WTF is a butter pie?

WTF is a butter pie?

potatoes, onion and butter in a thin pastry. They really are nice.

As I've says before, we used to have a catholic pie shop in H which sold them of a Friday.

RIP Case's

Thank you for enlightening. I'd genuinely never heard of them, although I am fully au fait with Carrs pasties, black peas, parkin, treacle etc. Maybe they never travelled as far as Farnworth / Walkden.  As a person who likes raw / pickled onion, the flavour of cooked onion when chopped up very small but can't stand the texture of big slices of cooked onion Iamprobablyout.

There aren't big slices, well not the way I've had it, it's like prater pie but with no meat in and butter added

They do a special one with extra small diced onion for an extra 50p mate.

You just have to ask for it as its not on the menu.

Oh right, OK, probably worth a do then.

I'll struggle to find one in West Yorkshire mind, you can't even get steak puddings! And their idea of pie and peas is hot pork pie, mushy peas, all covered in mint sauce..

I'm not a pork pie eater but used to work near Skipton and regular got requests to bring back those pork pies. They looked and smelt alright as I recall but you're right. Yorkshire folk eat funny food and don't understand the importance of gravy.

I only came across Butter Pies about five years in Haslingden, just a local pie shop within munching distance of Hollands Pie factory.

They were Catholic? Well I never. Very good pies, a Saturday lunch staple growing up.
