Where were you when you were shiite

  • Regarding feet, if someone's just come out of the toilet having had a massive, messy dump that's taken half of a toilet roll and five moist wipes to clean up, you'd be disgusted if they didn't wash th

Fucking ridiculous.

If they need to do that go to a mosque or stay at home.

Wankers only did it to cause a fuss.

could you imagine that happening at Burnden!!

No.

Haha

this, is only the beginning.

That's just a load of blokes taking a piss, innit?

Why shouldn't they?

I'd think anyone praying at a match was a nutter

Get a grip

Fuck me, that saddens me.

Not the lads praying, but the neanderthals who seem to be greatly offended by it.  Are the lads praying doing anybody any harm?

I've seen much nuttier behaviour than praying at the match

And I've seen plenty of folk do that too

If they'd done that in 2000, nobody would've cared

So why build all these Mosques if they are praying in grounds? why give them cheap tickets if they are going to miss parts of the game to say a few prayers?

I'm as lefty liberal as they come...

But no way I'm not having that.

It's a fucking football match,a mere 90 minute one at that.

Why can't the wait till after the game and go somewhere more private?

Same goes is a gang of Christians started singing hymns or whatever.

There's a time and place and a football match isn't one of them.

That isn't adapting to western culture...that's just plain attention seeking a looking to cause a stir.

No fucking way is that right.

Same goes for them fucking smookers that can't go 90 mins without a cancer stick so go hiding in the bogs to have a Woodbine.

I'm with The Gonzo.

It's attention seeking behaviour IMO.

Knocking fuck out of them was a pretty cuntish thing to do so I'm not advocating their behaviour

Fuck me, that saddens me.

In essence no.

But, rightly or wrongly I think I'd be a bit miffed if I saw it.

Not an anti-Muslim thing; wouldn't matter what the religion it is- there are specific buildings for this- just watch the game and go and pray later- surely a half decent religion does permit a late prayer or two.

Used to see the chap wearing the board with "Repent- the end is high" on it strolling up and down Manchester Road. Don't think it would have gone down too well if he and some fellow believers held sessions in Burnden

Fucking hell.

"Attention seeking" ???

They're doing nobody any harm and not causing an inconvenience from what I can see on that video. Leave them to it.  Even if it is "attention seeking" then by reacting to it you're surely giving them what they want.

Despite taking a break for prayers I'd bet they spent a helluva lot more time in their seats supporting their team, rather than so many of our fans who spend more time in the concourses.

Fuck it, religion clearly has no place in football.  Let's stone to death the next Catholic who crosses himself on the pitch.

I'd be more concerned that my prayers had fallen on deaf ears as they eventually went on to lose the game 3-1.

It's almost as if a deity who intervenes in the daily lives of its worshippers doesn't actually exist.

My take on it is this.  If you have a lot of Muslim supporters attending your games, it might make sense to build a small prayer room.  They've got one for the players, so I don't see why it should be any different for the fans.

If on the other hand, these are just a load of lads who don't normally go to the match - but have gone intentionally to create a holier than thou scene - then balls to 'em.

Fucking hell.

"Attention seeking" ???

What's their motivation would be my question.  Are they at the match to watch the football or to make a point.  If it's the former then I'd back them all the way - if it's the latter then I'd not be quite as sympathetic.

I would have to assume they are there to watch the match and to pray.

As I don't know them I have no idea if they have an ulterior motive.  Does anyone actually know any different?

Maybe I'm just overly tolerant, but to me they're doing nobody any harm and whilst, if I saw it, I might think it an odd thing to do at a football match, I certainly wouldn't be offended.

After all, they're praying not preaching.

that was my thinking. I am a cynic and so drew the conclusion it was the latter.

Religion is a private matter in my opinion and no I don't think there is any reason for this on a Saturday afternoon at the match.

Apart from it being Saturday evening and they were praying at the specified time.  Sorry, facts and all that.

Despite the abuse they got they didn't make a complaint.  Fair play to them I say.

I'd like to think any Muslim who came to watch a game at the Reebok and, if it coincided with their time for prayers, that they'd be allowed to find a quiet corner to do what THEY think is the right thing to do.  It saddens me though that, going off this thread, it clearly wouldn't be tolerated.

Folk on here speak openly of missing large parts of the game to socialise, drink, smoke etc

You could viably ask them the same questions

If it was "during the game" and they're missing it, then surely so are the folk that witnessed it and made a big deal of it?? If they wanted to "make a spectacle" surely they'd not do it in the middle of the match but at a time where it would be more obvious and more people would see. Even if they were, the best thing is for folk to ignore it....it's not hard to ignore someone who's facing the corner with their eyes shut.

Unless the folk who saw it "wanted" to make it an issue

They should be allowed to prey.

Instead of doing it under the stands, a slippy pece of tarpaulin in the centre circle at half time would be safer.

At the Reebok, sadly they'd be safer and left more alone in the opposition box

You can be as saddened as you want but frankly I'd say anyone who's life is dictated to in that manner by having to pray at a certain time needs a shake.

This is clearly a wider discussion which I can't be arsed having seeing as I'm clearly now some fascist for daring to question

From the Express article :-

"They were conducting their Mahgrib prayers at about 6pm—the fourth of devout Muslims’ five prayers a day.

It was about 10 minutes before half-time and the concourse was relatively quiet.

The supporters, who are understood not to have made any complaint, had been invited to the club as part of a highly commended initiative to forger close links with local community groups"

Maybe West Ham should've added a "No Praying" disclaimer to the invite so as not to offend, eh?  Deary me.
