Where were you when you were shiite

Exactly, they are here to serve.

That's why we're shit in the Davis Cup.

Like the other clown, you miss the point entirely.

ooh, ooh, am I the other? :)

I never mentioned Athletico Tehran. Does such a club exist?

Not a given? Double fucking bollocks with an egg on top. Who is our head of state then and what other position does she hold which binds church and state?

Once again, stunning ignorance that some kind of challenge to one of your broad assumptions might somehow, somewhere exist.

I know you've no longer got your finger on the pulse of contemporary Britain and never shun an opportunity to share some very odd ideas you've got of what Britain even is, but in recent times all the way over here, the leader of the opposition told the country he was an atheist and no-one battered an eyelid, the census results showed that less than 15% of the British are religious and Tony Blair (he was Prime Minister for quite a long time recently, you probably aren't aware) did everything possible to keep his faith under wraps. The total collapse of church attendancs at the very least shows that christianity is in deep decline and church going is seen by most as as weird as atheism used to be last time you checked what was happening in the motherland. We may have a christian heritage, big cathedrals and a head of state (albeit a powerless one) who also heads the church, but we are probably the least religious country in the developed world. But don't let any of this shake your wild assumptions.

Whether people are religous or not, the culture and traditions of this country are based on Christianity. Our main public holidays and large chunks of our history derived from Christianity. We have welcomed many other cultures into this country and they have brought with them, their own religions and traditions. We are very good at accepting other cultures whilst deriding our own.

And this is why they keep pushing and pushing more onto us, what we should be tolorating.

That would be Vince would it? Cabal FFS.

Refer to post #184.

It's small 'c' and all.

There's a thesis that many of the features of christian traditions of Europe, especially the timing, were based around the existing pagan religions - look up 'Midwinter'.

There's isolated groups, in The Baltic States and Norway in particular, who still see Christianity as an 'invader' religion in Europe (as they no doubt also consider Islam and any other Abrahamic/Eastern religions.)

If folk are bothered about the infiltration of Islam undermining our 'Christian' country, the answer's staring you in the face - go forth and multiply and attend a service at least once a week - problem solved. See you in Church! :)

I find what we call "Christian values" probably nearer to my own personal moral code and find some of the aspects of the Muslim code of ethics to be polar. Do I really need to go up church to think Islam isn't good for my health?

Still live and let live and all that

Such as though? Love your enemy (no thanks)? Your crimes and sins being erased by someone who had nothing to do with them? The promise of hell if you don't accept the christian god? Every single christain church has had to make repeated apology for the crusades, slavery, anti Semitism and so on, what does that say for christian values? One of the biggest cons christianty has pulled off is convincing people that it is responsible for moral standards for which there is no evidence for it creating. It cannot be the case that Moses' followers were indifferent to murder, theft etc until they were shouted at from Sinai. No society could survive in any form without some innate sense of right and wrong or some ingrained human solidarity.

The 'morals' in the bible are just as barbaric as anything in the qur'an. Stonings, summary executions, genocide.... some top morals there

Not me. All this forgiveness. Fuck that. You've just knocked the fuck out of some old dear, you are forgiven my child. OR the Muzzy way of chopping the smackhead cunt's arms off.

I said " nearer" and stand by the modern view of it being closer my own personal compass than Islam. I'm not sure that makes me a Christian or a follower of their beliefs though. Maybe if Islam got a big more done with the 21st century that'd change

Hows about the no johnnies in AIDS riddled Africa? Or paedo priests?

Thinking about it, I worded if well. My meaning was I live a much happier life in a society which is seen by many as a "Christian" than if I lived in an Islamic one

To be fair, it is seen as secular, not Christian. So perhaps, you're happier living in a country that allows all freedom of expression and is not tied to divinity, rather than a Christian country; which we no longer are.

It is seen as secular by whom? According to the 2011 census, 59 % of the country identified themselves as Christian, 4.8 % Muslim. 25% said they had no religion. That's not a secular country.

Oh right yeah, 59 percent may describe themselves as but you know as well as I in reality it means nothing.

We're a secular country, stop blowing out of your arse Disrali

Is there an echo in here?

I consider the UK a Christian country even though I am not a Christian

Maybe I'm wrong though, it has been known ;)

The thing about living in a country that is happy to embrace freedom of expression though is that is open to allowing people who want to shush that expression to be able to voice that.

Nope, you're never wrong. :) Freedom of expression is becoming an old fashioned phrase unfortunately.

People will push their beliefs as long as they get away with it.

As a white devout Christian male british culture states I can offend but not be offended.

It's a matter of time...

It's been said 1000 times before but why do Muslims offend when Hindus sheiks Jews and Catholics don't? Their backwards religion which didn't embrace changes held back their home countries (om the whole) and want the benefits and lifestyle of a country that didn't. That's why it's Britain. . We're too bloody tolerant.

And washing the feet is cleansing before prayer but I've only ever seen people doing it that are work shy... I've worked with many Muslims and I've only seen 2 do it. Both were lazy gits.
