January 8, 201412 yr Scummers the lot. They want money and fame all that shouting and raising your arm. He was a known gang emmer who was armed. FUCK OFF
January 8, 201412 yr Ok.... Who says he had a gun? The police? Well they would wouldn't they as they've just executed him on some tip off.... The gun was found over a fence in a sock which didn't contain his DNA or fingerprints.... Witnesses say he had a phone in his hand... I'm not surprised his family friends and supporters are shouting and bawling outside court... Just because he was a bad boy...makes no difference... The usual sanctimonious holier than thou crew appear on here... I hope they riot again and put another one of the cunts heads on a pole for all to see. Edited January 8, 201412 yr by Bobcat

The police are in the wrong here IMO I personally don't think the guy deserved shooting dead whatever his so called gang links were.
January 8, 201412 yr What happened to rubber bullets or tazers? Would that not have been a better way to sort it at the time? If he had pulled a gun then yeah shoot to kill that is fair enough. Scum or not that family has lost a loved one and they are only going to be angry about it. If someone shot someone in your family how would you react?
January 8, 201412 yr Glad to see the majority appear to be seeing sense. Known violent gang member. Intelligence that he was travelling to commit a crime and taking a firearm along. I notice the race card is instantly played. Be interesting to see Duggans past record.

The senior copper on Newsnight seemed contrite, which I thought was odd.
January 8, 201412 yr See Thats not strictly true bolts.... They had received intelligence that he was purchasing a firearm...not going to commit a crime with a firearm at that time... He was then executed after the taxi was hard stopped in a way the jury had concerns with... He stepped out the cab and was shot twice...a gun was found someway away without his fingerprints or DNA on..... I can understand why the family are a bit pissed..... Gangster or clergyman....makes no odds...it stinks Edited January 8, 201412 yr by Bobcat

It's not a holier than thou stance it's about a know gang member being suspected of having a gun.

January 8, 201412 yr A majority found it was lawful. I thought we were about a justice system. So the system has found it was lawful.
January 8, 201412 yr It's not a holier than thou stance it's about a know gang member being suspected of having a gun. Suspected.... Forensic evidence proved he had no contact with a weapon found near the scene....
January 8, 201412 yr Nothing to do race for me bolts. I just think the police fucked up big style and tried to cover it up. Like bobcat says it stinks from the top. Police in this country don't have free reign to shoot anyone they want, wether you think they should or not is a different story, the fact is they don't.
January 8, 201412 yr Suspected.... Forensic evidence proved he had no contact with a weapon found near the scene.... But the evidence has found that it was lawful. This is why I struggle here. We put out faith in the justice system. They have found it was lawful. For what it's worth I reckon there is more chance of me seeing my dick than him not being an active member of a gang causing shit
January 8, 201412 yr Author I just think the police fucked up big style and tried to cover it up. After doing some reading tonight, that's where I seem to be.

January 9, 201412 yr Police in this country don't have free reign to shoot anyone they want, wether you think they should or not is a different story, the fact is they don't. Firstly mate - no, I don't think they ever should have this right. The stats prove interesting with the Met. In over 13,000 armed officer deployments, only four have resulted in a shot being fired. With this in mind, I think they get it right overall. Some of the civil rights groups would have you believe that the Met is sending out death squads. Hysterical nonsense. I am very happy to rely on our widely lauded and oft adopted justice system. From a jury of our peers, 8 found in favour of the Police and 2 otherwise. Works for me.
January 9, 201412 yr I'm sick of this rules of engagement shite, I'm sorry but intelligence tells the police he's carrying a gun, he's a naughty boy and they have a duty to protect. The Police have a very difficult job to do and split second decisions to make them in, in my book they did the right thing and I hope they carry on doing the right thing too. To protect myself I'd do the same as them, not wait till the bullet has been shot.
January 9, 201412 yr If they were trained and all that they probably should've shot him in the leg instead
January 9, 201412 yr If they were trained and all that they probably should've shot him in the leg instead Tell me that's not a serious comment.. They are trained to put a couple of rounds into the torso - every time. I always smile when people start banging on about police or the military implementing a 'shoot to kill' policy. They are always going to attempt to put the rounds into the guy's chest. Always. You would try to shoot a guy carrying, or believed to be carrying, a loaded firearm which he intended to use in the leg, would you? Good luck with that. I don't think your colleagues would be too comfortable about you covering their backs though. Thankfully neither you or I will ever be in the position where we have to confront these scumbags.
