Agree with this.    I'll make a deal with all dog owners. I won't let my children jump up on you, slaver on you, take them to places unsuitable for them or leave their shit on the ground.   In tur

I'd wager there are a lot more dogs than Horses, and probably cows,

Its a freak event, and one that shouldnt have been allowed to happen, but tarring all dogs with the same brush is just wrong..

Its like blaming all muslims for terrorist act...... oh wait.... people do..

Generalisation, got to love it.

Either way they shouldnt have had that breed of dog, and they know that. To leave a "dangerous breed" alone with a kid is beggars belief. But we know how these idiots work, and who knows what goes on in their heads..

To be fair, as soon as you heard this story you could have taken a decent guess at the breed. Our border collie is intelligent, obedient and soft as shite... I'd have absolutely no issue leaving him with any kind of kid as he hasn't a violent bone in his body. My little cousins climb all over him, pull his ears etc etc and he loves them... they're the only ones with as much energy as him! This dickhead apparently called his dog 'killer', that should give some impression on how he raised the fucking thing

That's where I'm at pal, apart from mine is a golden Labrador.

They get on like a house on fire him and the little lad, sleeps next to his bed most of the time.

As for the cat argument.its kind of a defunct argument as a cat would never be around kids anyway as they are for queers and old lady's that live in giant shoes and houses made from sweets and chocolate.

I have a block of kennels with my dogs in them (working dogs), in the house I have a bedlington terrier, would I eave it with kids unattended...would I fuck........ Shit owners with killing machines( bred to fight /kill) recipient for disaster....

Folk can tell themselves it's not going to happen all they like - they have to live with the guilt when it does.

I don't mind dogs at all, and grew up with a German Shepherd which was a fantastic dog, lived a long life and never threatened anybody, especially my little sister who was a baby when we got the dog. But there is NO WAY I'm having a German Shepherd near my two small kids, it only takes one moment of madness from an animal, when all's said and done.

To me it's utter insanity not to realise the potential danger. Obviously other people see it differently.

Coming through Salford on the way into the office, we have just passed the proverbial hoodie wearing scrote walking his pitbull terrier. The dangerous dogs act does not work, these are not pets they are killing machines and until the government does something they will continue to bread them and kids will continue to get mauled by them.

I'd actually trust dogs more than cats with small children.

Dogs are a lot more forgiving of unwanted attention.

Wow!  That's right up there with your 'skewed' comment.

Cat receives unwanted attention - usual outcome, cat runs away and hides behind settee. Worst case outcome, cat scratches kid and then hides behind settee.

Dog receives unwanted attention - usual outcome, dog moves away from kid.  Worst case scenario, dog kills child.

In one. Cats have had their aggression bred out of them i.e. domesticated. Some breeds of dog have been bred specifically for their aggression. Do the math.

'Some' being the key word there. A working dog is a different thing to a hunting/fighting dog

what parallel universe do you live in?

'Some' being the key word there. A working dog is a different thing to a hunting/fighting dog

Absolutely, which is why 'some' breeds are banned, yet people still keep them.

Thinly veiled it runs in the family post.

Agree with this.

In turn, you can do the same.

It makes my blood boil when my 4 year old is happily playing in a park and along bounds some dog towards her that is her height, jumping around and then the twat of an owner goes; ''Don't worry it won't bite.'' at that point I always say, I don't care, it you don't move it away I'm going to kick it in the face. I didn't ask for a mutt to come over and scare the kids witless.

The only good dog, is a working dog. Failing that, a dead one will do.

can i bring my dog into a restaurant and let it bark at you throughout the meal?

Jack Straw has pretty much summed it up for me.....

"This is the most awful killing, of an innocent eleven month old baby by an out-of-control, and self-evidently dangerous dog.

"What will it take to convince people not to keep dogs like this - and to get across to all dog-owners, of every breed of dog, that no dog should ever be left unsupervised with a baby?

"However domesticated a dog may be, its hunting instinct can take over in a moment.

"It's too early to say whether the legislation on dangerous dogs should be strengthened in the light of this terrible loss of life. I shall however give active consideration to pressing for changes once I have more details of what happened".

I remember as kids growing up - my Grandparents had a lovely Rottweiller named Greta. I remember hanging off its neck - pulling it's ears - trying to ride it (steady on) and generally just annoying the fuck out of it. It was never anything other than a big bundling lump of good nature. The only time it frightened me was when my me and my brother had a fight once - it stuck its head in between us and shook us apart. I talked to my Grandma about Greta a couple of years back when we were thinking of getting a Rottie. She told me that as kids, not once were we left on our own with the dog. There was always one of the Grandparents about or otherwise, the dog was kept in another room. Not because they didn't trust her, but because the wanted to eliminate any possibility of a problem. That's the only sensible solution for me - big dog or otherwise.

Aye. It's just folk like Straw sticking his oar in that annoy me... folk who want to treat all dogs like the horrible chavvy breeds that inevitably cause these sorts of problems

That'd be great. I'd especially enjoying kicking yours in the head after my amuse-bouche.

Ptetty much. What the fuck was that mother thinking?

And my dog is better behaved than most kids in a restaurant :)

Whoa whoa ...hunting and fighting are NOT related in anyway...hunting dogs needed to be handled a lot..and handled when they are"fired up" no hunting dog is bred to be vicious towards dogs ,humans or any animals that are not prey animals ie; greyhounds chase hares, trained not to chase sheep etcetera

So hunting dogs and fighting dogs are NOT the same thing...

Which is surprising as jack russells are usually nouty little twats.

it's your brother who does the comedy lines, you're the shitty shoed straight man

I'd have a job keeping my little and dog alone together. she runs away if he gets close

if im busy i'll keep em either side of the baby gates just to be on the safe side, as she's got big sharp teeth and it's only sensible.

ours is a pup

loved playfully locking its jaws on my arm and foot til it learned that wasn't good

would have done no end of damage to a baby

my little angel wouldn't use any of her teething toys when she was a pup, only my hand would do for her and yes, it fucking hurt and no I'd not like her to have done it to a small child. She was my pet though so I let her do it rather than be in teething pain. Thing is, and I keep saying, it's a moot point as no one should leave a child and a pet alone together, especially when you're you busy with your boyfriend to give a shit.

For me its once again one of responsibility for your own actions, instead of pointing at others as an example or using blame to justify their skewed logic.

Keep a pet fucking lion for me, its the choice of the individual, but if it eats someone then that individual should face the consequences of their decision to keep an animal that has the potential to kill or maim in the first fucking place.

Simple.

If I keep semtex in my kitchen and it goes BANG one day whilst burning my toast taking half of fucking Horwich with it, I can't say 'well I normally let the kids make playdoh men out of it no problem and the Irish have shitloads of it, last week was just one of them things Your Honour, soz!'.

Quit my job and tell his grandparents they're not allowed to have him any more until they get rid of the dog? What's the obvious option?

Whippet

Have you seen those two queers that kept a lion in a shop in London? One day a TV wildlife person came in and they got their help in releasing it into the wild.

Then a few years later they went to Africa and went looking for it. It was fucking huge, came over and cuddled them. Tears...
