Agree with this.    I'll make a deal with all dog owners. I won't let my children jump up on you, slaver on you, take them to places unsuitable for them or leave their shit on the ground.   In tur

There's a dog in Nisa, up TM, fucking hell - nobody would have a prayer with that... There's no need for anyone to own what is theoretically a small horse but with god knows how much bit pressure per square inch.

I refuse to have any previous drunken behavior held against me in a reasoned WW debate.

Personally, if any owner lets their dog run around off a lead where kids and families are then I believe they are fair game if they come near. I should have to be the one amending what I do or 'training' my children how to behave around dogs, it should be the other way round.

As for letting them chase livestock, not sure that's such a grand idea either.

Fair game? If you kicked a pit bull in the chops, what do you think the likely outcome would be? I know you're a man of steel but I don't think it would end happily! There's also a good chance that the owner wouldn't be too enamoured and you would face the prospect of a public fist fight with the added encumberence of a pit bull hanging off your leg! :-)

By the way, we didn't LET the dog chase livestock. We went out of our way to walk her in a fenced off area. The problem was the ram had escaped into a public (child free) area.

I've kept the cravate you wore when you came around. It's still got your scent on it so I regularly beat the dog whilst letting it have a sniff so that it will attack you on sight next time. The very sight of a pair of drainpipe trousers is enough to send her into a Pavlovian response of rage. x

With steal toe-capped winklepickers there would only be one winner.

It wasn't a cravat, more a male pashmina; lovely off blue colour as I recall.

Anyway, your dog loved me. It smelt who the dominant male was in the room and behaved accordingly. :D

If dogs are killing machines then so are people, both capable of killing (trying) a child or anyone if they want to.

My dog wouldn't hurt a fly and we've had my nieces and nephew around when they've been babies and she's been grand with them.

It's those Japanese Akita dogs I would never trust.

That breed of dog should simply not be a household pet.

The things are stronger and more powerful than most of their owners, and its not that long ago they were bred for war.

Never encountered one that hasn't had to be restrained by its owner whilst it attempts to break free and rip my dog to pieces.

Evil fucking things, responsible owner or not.

Bet you let it sleep on your bed

Raise your hand to a dog and it then bites someone - it's your fault

Kick the dog and it later bites someone - it's your fault

Kick in defence, like punching a shark on the nose, then no problem.

Bet you let it sleep on your bed

Your best bet is to stick a finger up its arse once it's latched on.

Not a sharks obviously.

Bet you let it sleep on your bed

Ours has its own sofa chair.

Jumps in bed in the morning when one of us gets up.

we have to keep our 3 year old away from our dogs, they've put in numerous complains about her behaviour,

She was sat on the bigger one the other day shouting "giddy up"..

Absolutely love kids..

The bigger one is trained to walk next to me, the problem is that kids shout him over, better a dog loving kids than mistrusting them.

Problem with dogs is that once they have had a taste for blood, they cant be trusted.

Serious post here. My ex's parents have an Alsation-type thing that is fucking mental. It attacked me last year and drew blood, and every time I go round there they have to lock it away in the spare room because it wants to fucking kill me (a mutual feeling). It's also attacked neighbours. What terrifies me is that my 2 year old lad stays there a lot when me and his mum are at work. I've raised the issue, but the ex's mum and dad are CONVINCED it will never touch my son. I have said  to them "It's a dog. You have no idea what goes through it's mind.", but they'll have none of it. It scares me to fucking death that it might flip one day and get hold of my lad. I've seriously considered secretly killing the fucker with poison, and if it ever goes for me again, I would have no problem shoving my thumbs through its eye sockets and ripping its fucking brain out. Any advice?

Kick it on the head. Hard.

all depends on how long he's been staying there, and as long as they are not leaving him in the room with the dog.

Dogs have a 6th sense and are normally really protective of kids.. Nutty one of ours sleeps outside daughters room as often as he can keeping guard..

The dog that's done the deed today, they have been arrested on suspicion of man-slaughter... More to this...

He's been around it since he was born. It is EXTREMELY protective of him, but it's a fucking dog, so I don't trust it. What makes matters worse is they got it from a rescue centre, and it has been abused in the past. I have nightmares about my son grabbing it's tail or something, and it going mental.

As soon as bit you it should have been put down.

My brother bought a puppy with his then girlfriend that turned into a little vicious bastard.

They split up and it ended living at my mum and dads where it attacked my dad then me making me miss a home game against Swindon.

When my mum and dad went on holiday my other brother drove over picked the dog up and took it to get out down.

Job done.

So, they're downstairs and the baby is locked in a bedroom with her? That's not fucking right in my book, the whole scenario sounds odd.

Our eldest was attacked when she was 2 by my auntie's border collie and ended up with 70 odd stitches in her face. It had never attacked anyone before and wasn't put down, which annoyed me a tad. It later on went for one my auntie's neighbours and was put down.

We don't know to this day what exactly caused it to attack my daughter but she was sat on the worktop at the time and may have been eating something.

We have a cavalier and have a rule that if the grandkids are eating anything, biscuit, lolly, packet of crisps etc the dogs are locked up. Don't think the chihuahua would go anywhere near but it still gets locked up.

We have a black lab from puppy and it's soft as shit I let it off lead in park around kids and all it wants it's to be chased,it knows not to jump up and get in peoples faces. Around here there's loads of status dogs and their owners are fucking scum Nowt to do with dog it's how it's handled

I hear this all the time, it's soft as, wouldn't hurt a fly. I just think kids and dogs are not the best mix. Why bother with the danger, there's enough to worry about when you've got nippers.

My cat is 'soft as' it's a bloody cat but the 1 year old will still try and pull it's trail and it's got it's heckles up. Kids are in, cat is out.

But my 7 year old is great with it and I understand it's good for kids to have a pet to teach responsibility but you can do that with a gerbil or a kitten.

Also just popped for a pint after work, someone has brought a dog in, it's barking and being a general arse. I don't want your dog round me. It's a black lab puppy.

Report it to the police.

You'll never forgive yourself if what you think might happen actually happens.

dogs shouldn't be allowed in pubs I agree with that, but the rest I don't best thing we got for the kids is the dog

You're right. I should at the very least get some advice. I've been considering it for a while, but I've put it off for not wanting to upset people. Fuck em.

Mine goes for her lunch to dog friendly pubs, some as quite posh, she loves it and the oldies too. Mine looks like a teddy bear and is well behaved though. There's some which are smelly, noisy and generally lairy though. There was one in Curlys Sunday lunch like that. Horrible creature.

All this is irrelevant though. From what I've read, it's the mother who wants putting down.
