Play Offs On The Horizon Part 2

If we win all our games then that will put us on 75pts

That's 1 more than Leicester currently in top spot

Is it still mathematically possible that we can win the league?

Currently it is theoretically possible, but not at all realistic.

IF Leicester lose to Barnsley and Blackpool (or even manage 1 point) and Bolton beat Derby and Brighton I'll look at it properly.

Realistically play-offs is out of our hands and relies on everyone folding like last season. Automatic promotion is distinctly unlikely, and top spot not quite impossible.

And Blackburn,Brighton have 1 game in hand wigan have 2

Charlton are 12 pts down on Bolton with 4 games in hand, so even they could take the title (but won't, obviously).

wigan will piss it into the playoffs, and we are too far behind QPR, Forest and Derby . I am yet far from convinced about the team, squad and manager. We are on a good run at the moment but there is little to play for. Once any sort of expectation or pressure is applied they look  more than likely to crack.

But that is what happened to so many clubs last season (including Bolton at the last). Maybe they were giddy at the prospect of Premier League riches.

And there are signs of it recurring this season - Derby, QPR, Forest and Reading have all lost unexpectedly recently, so it can happen to Wigan too (and their cup run won't help, either).

Think I've counted around 7 teams that need to pick up less than half the points available to them. And even then we need to win our next 11. Play-offs just too far this season, but a nice run from now and until then to get us all giddy again and keep us excited for next season would be more than welcome after the dire 75% of the season we've had so far.

Top half would do for me after the horrors of the first two-thirds of a season.

yep

that's where I am now and where I was this time last season

I almost feel like a scouser on that boom bust cycle

next year, that'll be our year...

Im with this, would be good to finish season undefeated mind.

We're gonna catch Big Mick!

that bets settled, you agreed weeks ago

that bits not so unlikely

1.5 points a game over the season is 69 points

not many will achieve that

It is for all 7 to go on such a run. It ain't happening.

I'd settle for finishing above Blackburn and a strong finish that will (this time) extend into next season

Hmmm, quite right.

It's still unfathomable and unacceptable the way we started this season off.

see, if you can fathom it, you can accept it

shit pre dawson, shit post dawson

adds up to me

i saw through jaidi early doors while most were pulling their puds cos he scored a few#

defended like a novice

but, dawson was different

his goals made a massive difference - nil nils became one nils

spearing gets shit cos he cant play dead balls - dawson arrives and we score off his balls in

juke arrives and spearing can take good free kicks

maybe they were good all along and the problem is the lack of desire/intelligence by the blokes in the box

I get all of that, you know I do, so even if it's fathomable, it's still unacceptable.

Yep that's it; it was all just about the 2 players

Not DF over complicating stuff, swapping players weekly to get no consistency, playing overly pragmatically and not getting the most out of the players in general.....nothing at all to do with that??

How naturally convenient for you Mrs Freedman

no, none of that

trying to find out about his players

trying to motivate players who were never going to get another deal on the same terms from us or anybody else

you try simplify it but it just shows you to be missing the point

not for the first time :)

The flaw is that the back end of last season wasn't just about Dawson

I don't miss any point and I concede when DF has done well, whereas you conveniently fit every circumstance to match your blinkered view that DF is superManager

It's never his fault...

You sure you're all black pudding and not a bit Scouse?

Edited by jules_darby

it wasnt all about dawson but he was a massive influence

he then banked on wheater for this season

his fitness wasnt reet

he signed tierney who lasted a couple of weeks

he had to wait for davies

theres all sorts of things

we'll chat it thru next saturday neet :)

There is a halfway house between Casino and Jules and I think that's about where we should all be at the moment, DF has got it half right and half wrong I'm hoping he'll sort the half wrong over the close season if he does not sort it he can pack his backs for me he's got 15 games next season in my eyes.

But that's just it mounts; I'm not at the extreme end of the spectrum...happy to give DF credit where it's due

But Cas and are so tunnel visioned they won't admit when and where he has made mistakes
