Going back to Mounts (I can't quote for whatever reason) I went to Clermont-Ferrand as an exchange student, through school (Wardley) 15 or 16 I guess.  We went there one year then hosted them the next, at halls of residence in their uni and Salford Uni. Ours was totally subsidised by Salford Council, but their stuff had to be privately funded. So one year we go over there and have days out with the kids and their parents at the lake in their summer residence or whatever, all dead posh.  The following year they ended up doing the day out thing with us lot in Walkden, LH and Swinton.  Looks on their faces was priceless when they realised what they'd signed up to!  TBF they were a pretty decent bunch and we had a laugh, and I'll never forget the lovely Carole...
