In 1. No one close to them for fusing interesting intricate music with mainstream popular potential at the moment (or at any time in their 4 album history). Plenty of bands doing interesting things, but non doing it in such an immediate way.

 

I remember friends recommending them and I assumed they were a hype job; was quite bitter to discover they were better than advertised.
