COYW
and bwfcfan is correct we saw the difference one player can make both dawson and juke had a massive effect if you could add those 2 for the rest of the season, you could expect an enormous upturn its why its so frustrating we get so little out of mark davies and lee - 2 players who may well be in the top 2 or 3% earners in this league That's the point though. A new manager could turn it around just by getting better performances out of his better players. I don't buy this idea that chucking money at it is the only solution. Say what you want about the quality of our group of players,at the end of the day that squad should not be sat at the bottom of the championship table. In fact it should be nowhere near it whatsoever.
bwfcfan5
Not many, if any, clubs were queueing up to sign any of them though were they? Having failed to win promotion the first time around under Todd, those players had gone backwards the season after. Allardyce turned it around. No reason why the new boss can't do the same with some of the better players he'll inherit. Difference is there were genuine quality players in that squad. This squad doesn't have that. It doesn't have a former premier league winner or anyone of Gardners or Frandsens quality. You are kidding yourself if you think it does in my view. It is at best a collection of championship players. A manager may make a difference. But how much we shall see. I don't believe the squad of players is anywhere near as good as some make out. Moderators Zico Posted October 6, 2014 Moderators Share Posted October 6, 2014 We're talking about the two seasons in the Championship. Ah, reet Then I agree this squad is far more bereft of the quality that fsa acquired But also agree with a good manager we can get us moving towards safety And with one or two additions who knows But I think we're likely to lose more quality than we acquire next season no matter where we finish

Moderators Casino Posted October 6, 2014 Moderators Share Posted October 6, 2014 i think they are decent with the money we have - remember, we have to comply with ffp like other teams with our incfome i doubt the other teams have lads on the wages davies, lee, bogdan are on taking up 35/40% ? of our wage bill i also dont think theyre lazy i think, like in previous seasons, we're a player, or two, from making any big moves up the league ive said for a while the solution to our problems wasnst as simple as changing the manager/tactics i hope i'm wrong bogdan and a fit wheater would improve us a lot, i think but fook knows when wheater will be fit and i reckon bogdan will have to be sacrificed in january for whatever we can get

Traf
Alongside a change of tactics, we need a change of mindset. Get a decent sports psychologist like the chimp guy to sort them out.
gonzo
Alongside a change of tactics, we need a change of mindset. Get a decent sports psychologist like the chimp guy to sort them out. Agree with that completely. Yon fella on FLS had it right the other night. Some quality individuals but no spirit.
Henry_VIII
No I don't disagree, maybe its my heart ruling my head but I think a manager who looks at the players he has, gets a system that suits them and plays to their strengths will have us top 10. if you then added a Dawson and a Juke type and anything could happen. Your post sounded like you didn't think the players were good enough.
Moderators Casino Posted October 6, 2014 Moderators Share Posted October 6, 2014 i think the players should be ok to keep us up not many clubs can filed players supposedly as talented as bogdan, wheater, davies and lee i just dont think its as cut and dried as some do ffs, i could have it dead easy here and say the players are great and the new fella should be able to have us near the play offs by april/may i just dont think its anything like that easy, even with the fans backing
Henry_VIII
I do think its that simple to be honest. The players we have aren't the greatest we all know that but I genuinely think a settled team, with the right tactics we would be well clear of the relegation places. Time will tell. Moderators Casino Posted October 6, 2014 Moderators Share Posted October 6, 2014 it will, harold, it will i hope we never find out cos we sign somebody who scores 25 before may
Henry_VIII
Craig Davies with Joe Mason will get us 20 plus and Beckford as back up/sub should get 10. Sort set pieces out and we will be sorted. My big worry is getting the right man in. Would love Pulis but that isn't realistic, think I would go for Brown, MacKay has too much baggage at the mo, Philips has never managed, Mowbury hmmmm maybe. Who would you go for?
Moderators Casino Posted October 6, 2014 Moderators Share Posted October 6, 2014 not saying im gonna say hes shit from day one its much easier whoever it is, ill take 4th from bottom
Henry_VIII
Don't be like that, its only opinions and everyone is different. Most fans have backed the managers whether they agreed with the appointment or not. Agree with fourth from bottom too, all I want to see are small signs of improvement. Moderators Casino Posted October 6, 2014 Moderators Share Posted October 6, 2014 I'm guessing whoever comes in can bring an assistant and that will be that That might put one or two off I honestly don't know much about any of the names in the frame crept Brown He wouldn't be my first choice I'm not completely against another up and comer such as the fellas at Peterborough and mk All the possibles carry some baggage so whoever we get gets my backing til he refuses to play muamba
Garrp
I want Hill McDermot fits the profile I think we are aiming for so I think it could well be him. he's the best of the rest for me too
Site Supporter Ratwhite Posted October 7, 2014 Site Supporter Share Posted October 7, 2014 Bottom of the league in early Ocober , with 35 games (or 105 points available), now I've not been drinking Gin all night, but after seeing the "so called" favourites Derby and Forest, and considering the performance at Leeds (almost total domination), I honestly don't think we're a million miles away from being a decent team. We have got a decent squad, including the likes of Vela, Hall, Riley, Wilkinson from the U21's and midfielders to burn. Wheater, Trotter, Tierney and even Holden due to return. If we can get he right man at the helm, a bit of the luck that all teams need, get the bulk of fans back on side, and get that first win, can still see the rest of this season being enjoyable (play-offs even :-0)
ex_midlandwhite
Not sure he'd ever return anyway (injury wise) but I wonder if the departure of Freedman makes a return of Holden to us even less likely. There are less connections to him as the months go by. Edited October 7, 2014 by ex_midlandwhite
Moderators Zico Posted October 7, 2014 Moderators Share Posted October 7, 2014 Can't see it making a difference He was injured when DF arrived, spent most of his time here injured and when the next manager arrives, he'll be injured
