I'm not a fan of what I'm about to say because it's used unnecessarily at times. But Oldham is a proper northern club. Good to see them back in the league. Chuffed for 'em.

he should be studied milner, how he's kept his body going at the highest level for so long is remarkable

of course keeping in prime condition is a key factor

but he must have got relatively lucky for a footballer in that he can't have been injured much

be interesting to see how the likes of Giggs and Speed compare with those numbers

No doubt there’s some luck in it. No matter how well you look after yourself, it doesn’t stop you from being on the end of a bad tackle that puts you out for a year (and then becomes a recurring weakness).

I do remember reading an interview with him when he was about 33 (and so already being asked about longevity) and he said that every decision he makes in his life is to give himself the best chance of extending his football career, and that he’d start to lighten up a bit once he’s stopped playing - pretty sure it’s where the whole “boringjamesmilner” stuff on social media came from.

He certainly wouldn't look out of place sporting hearing aids.

See if any issues at end of season are resolved on goal difference .

Indeed, though that could work either way I suppose.

Just read he's still one game behind Gareth Barry's pl record appearances

So be interested to know what Barry's numbers look like as well

Barry is going to have a LOT more minutes.

He's also 19th in games started, just behind Jussi.

Milner is 13th in minutes played, just behind Sylvain Distin, who has 200 games less.

That definitely aids the longevity.

Is there anywhere to watch these games? Are they on Wanderers TV?

Because he has been a squad player most his career, only broke 30 league games in 40% of his seasons played.

About 25% of his career games he was a sub.

training most days week in week out is the had part, the 90 mins on a saturday is the easy bit

Aye, it's some achievement however many starts he's had.

Finished 0-0. RR got 45 mins

Stevenage v Barnsley postponed tonight - I wouldn’t want to be scheduling Barnsley fixtures at the moment, can’t imagine there are many spare dates considering they’re already 3 games behind most of the league (4 behind us)!

The Chancellor trying a different career then? 😀

They must be running out of midweeks

By my reckoning they’ll now have 3 weeks to the end of the season with just 1 game - every other one is 2 games a week 🥴

I know Stevenage have played two more but with this needing to be rearranged and our match likely to be moved in March, they're not far behind either

(it also means we would have a 2-week break ahead of that run of tough April fixtures)

Stockport winning 0-2 in Vertu cup, should see them through to semi final. Hopefully that will be a big distraction and effect them in the league.
