Wash your mouth out. It's one of the only interesting pubs in Bolton and pretty much the only one who bother about live music. Fingers crossed it'll be sorted out.

Oh no, not another live music venue gone, Ill have to be able to hear the person standing right next to me again, booooo:)

I dint think I've ever been in that pub

Poor mans Alma

Poor mans Alma

Jesus, no wonder I've never been in

Alma is for heavy metal types who were bullied at school, D&P for punks & indie kids.

Did some girl you were sweet on at school spurn you for a greb, Whites man?

As a callow youth, when the puberty stick hit hard and interest from girls waned, I thought ''in for a penny'' and took the somewhat misadvised step, along with some friends into the world of heavy metal, I/we didn't get bullied, I expect that's because we were all quite hard at the time (ooh! hello sailor!)...

I did know some heavy metal types who got picked on, I wouldn't say they were soft/weak, they just wouldn't stand up for themselves - easy targets.

Half of the 'trendy' sheep who were doing the bullying have gone on to be smackheads, general scrotes and ner do wells, and the poor downtrodden metallers (of which I wasn't one, well, a downtrodden one) have gone on to do alreet. Karma.

On the subject though, I've ventured in both pubs (D+P and The Alma) in the past and had some nobhead pull me up/make comments on the fact I'm not dressed like one of Cannibal Corpse (and haven't since I turned eighteen) - that's until I've put them right on the matter...It can go both ways, acting snooty with folk who don't conform.

I not once had genuine grief in regular pubs when I was dressed in a leather jacket etc. as a kid, the odd bit of banter perhaps, but in these 'alternative' places, as an adult whilst dressed smart, I've had genuine grief.

Once got grief in Hawthorns for being dressed in a shirt and jeans on a Friday night. Bloke said, 'why come in here dressed to conform?' I don't think he understood when I said, 'look around you mate.'

D&P is the only pub I've ever been barred from. Hope they don't think this recent incident is a revenge attack by me.

Does that fat bastard still work behind the bar at the Alma? They won't be seeing my money again until he's gone.

I had words with the landlord of The Alma (that was a first too, a disagreement with a landlord probably younger than me), after he wanted to eject me, for having the temerity to try and seek out some c*nt, who'd launched a Newky Brown bottle that missed my head by two centimetres, then disappeared into the ether...

Looking back, in my view, there are probably more nobheads per capita in these alternative venues, or perhaps the alternative-friendly staff see mither and automatically assume it's the well-dressed one causing the bother?

They look like they need a good wash.

According to th'Evening News " Durham, who had a brown beard and was wearing a black and white hooped sweatshirt did not enter a plea "

Just to distinguish him from all the other drivers whio had gatecrashed the D  & P.

They wanted to charge him with conspiracy to burgle too, but they couldn't find his mask and sack with 'swag' written across it...

did we not get barred from the anchor too?

i think somebody farted

What do you have to do to get barred from the D&P - I would have thought that would take some doing

Singing. To be fair to the landlord he had told us quiet a few times to STFU.

If we had just wandered in from over the road then we probably did get barred. Which is fair enough.

Not been barred from The Man and Scythe? I'm not sure I believe that...

Barred from the Lostock Arms twice I think

I'be been up there today to help shift some of Neil's stuff after some scrotes burgled it yesterday.

It's spit & sawdust yeah, I'be been supping in there since the mid 80's when it was a thwaites house.....it had table cloths and doilies in the front room!

There are a few pretentious mongalongs who occasionally go in but the live music is a top draw.

There's only one rule in the house: don't be a dick. If you don't act like a dick, you'll be warmly welcomed.

I can see a few of us fixing this ourselves........

Sorry but sadly not surprised to hear that some lowlifes saw the crash at the D&P as an opportunity to get on the rob cureforsanity.

Been in a couple of times when it has been quiet years ago but can't claim any affinity with the place.

Hope the landlord and his/your pals get it all fixed up nonetheless.

If you like watching original live bands play in a dickhead free environment whilst drinking decent ale then, like me, you'll be gutted if they have to knock the place down. To the best of my knowledge nobody ever forced anyone in there at gunpoint.
