  • Isn't time the fitness gurus and physios took a look at the warm up and stretching exercises?  I simply don't understand why our players pick up so many hamstring injuries.  It must be more than a VER

Everything that goes wrong is Gartside's fault.

Success is always despite Gartside.

Is Pratley out of contract too?

Ffs - another one I can see leaving just as he got going again

Not blaming anyone mind, just a bloody shame, he was fantastic before the injury. We are desperate for his physicality in the middle

FFS! He's one we need to get signed up for next season if at all possible. He's come into his own this season and was proving to be a really important player for us before the injury. Definitely worth another contract.

Love how players get better by not playing.

Definitely worth another contract.

worth?

define worth

worth 20k a week?

10k?

or what we can afford which is likely nearer 4 or 5?

We've missed him massively since he got injured

"Wanderers midfielder Darren Pratley could miss rest of season". Bolton News.

Not only do the players seem to be competing to get on that treatment table, they don't seem to want to get off.

In 65 years, I don't remember anything like it. Is it happening at all / most other clubs, I wonder.

2 nd 2 gives me pratley has said we cant offer him enough to stay

lennons planning for next year

might well be miles off

Couldn't blame Pratley for leaving, he might remember he's only a couple of poor pre season games away from being abused in a another friendly.

Hope he stays. Maybe Lennon would rather keep some of the midfielders he has brought in though.

Pretty sure it has been like this for 5 years or longer. Since Sam took the medical team, basically.

Think Bogdan also in the same club with Pratley.

Surely the medical team can only treat the injuries not stop them happening. I think we just have more players who to are prone to injuries, and the championship is more physical than the premiership and there are more games and therefore more chance of injuries.

I think the whole sports science medical team stuff is totally overplayed in terms of injury recovery and prevention. Didn't Allardyce have a massive injury pile up at West Ham last year? Presumably with a large sports science and injury prevention team.

We're have an absolutely rotten season of luck. If anything I suspect some of it is down to the aggressive and hard running style Lennon demands from his team. But pretty much most of it is just luck. The three that got injured on Tuesday wouldn't seem so bad if they weren't in the context of previous long term injuries like Clayton, Davies and Holden. That really is why it seems terribly unlucky. Everytime a player goes down though, it seems like a long term thing. Whereas you watch others and they go down looking like they'll not walk again but are playing a week later.

We probably were lucky in the premiership for a long period as we never had a run where our key players were lost seriously to injury. Imagine certain seasons if Kevin Davies had been injured seriously along with a couple of others, we could have easily been in the shit before we actually did end up there.

Under Sam we had a magic injury prevention machine, I know because I read about it in the BN. They cost 90k so no one else had one apart from Arsenal.

Have they got rid of the ice bath?

Have they got rid of the ice bath?

They still have it, not sure if it gets used though. Apaprently it was gathering dust under Freedman's reign.

And I'm doubting the players would be demanding its return following Freedman's demise.

when you say apparently, is that from abloke in the pub?

strikes me as odd, since freedman brought mark leather back who was given loads of credit for our adopting modern fitness plans

I would be absolutely amazed if we didn't have and use an ice bath.

Came from a friend who worked at the club.

well, aye

but our 'machine' wasnt an ice bath it was some sort of chamber

Works wonders for Andy Carroll.

Haha. I thought these things were designed more for quicker recovery after a game rather than injury prevention?

Yep, I doubt they have any effect on knee injuries or whatever keeps nobbling Ricardo Vaz Te etc.

I just loved the way the BN described this space age bit of kit that was so miraculous that only us and Arsenal had one.
