  • Isn't time the fitness gurus and physios took a look at the warm up and stretching exercises?  I simply don't understand why our players pick up so many hamstring injuries.  It must be more than a VER

Weak hamstrings is a key indicator of ACL injuries as well.

Something we should be looking at IMO.

Often because one of the favoured ways of fixing an ACL tear is to replace with a hamstring tendon that's folded over

Not surprised he's got injured if ever a player was in the famous red zone it's our pratters.

True, that's why it happens again often.

But the original injury is often because your quads are more powerful than your hamstrings and they can't decelerate you leg correctly causing injury.

Footballers focus a lot on leg extension work as it's the movement for jumping, running and kicking but do little injury prevention by building up hamstrings. In my experiences coaching them anyway.

Very interesting

The surgeons I've spoken to don't know why some peoe are prone to ACL tears etc

Some believe that weaknesses leading to easy ACL tear could be hereditary. another test if you are prone to this type of thing is general elasticity; tested easily by pulling your thumb back - the theory goes, the more elastic, the more likely you are to suffer

But as I understand it, nobody really knows

You'd know more about dodgy knees than me :) I'm just going off the prehab work I did for Man City.

They did a lot of strength work on hamstrings, even for the kids saying how important it was.

Why, you're still in the FA Cup

These injuries are getting beyond a joke now.

They can't all be down to bad luck or misfortune.

Saving him for next season promotion charge. If he signs.

Lennons wanted the training pitch relayed but Gartside is not sanctioning it.

Could be a blessing in disguise. Get him signed and reet for next season

Glad you mentioned Clayton.

It reminded me that Clayton Powis is a racist.

Out for 6-8 weeks.

Must have fallen off the treatment table ......... Or maybe a few players were fighting about who's next.

Is Pratley out of contract too?

Ffs - another one I can see leaving just as he got going again

Not blaming anyone mind, just a bloody shame, he was fantastic before the injury. We are desperate for his physicality in the middle

If they leave on a free and we think they're a good player, then it's always Gartsides fault. If they're shit and they still have at least a year left on their contract, then that's Gartsides fault as well. If they're shit and about to leave on a free, then that's Gartsides fault for sanctioning the signing in the first place.

I think that covers it
