I think you are over thinking the fact that towards the end of the Freedman era, one or two may have stated that Megson, with hindsight, was much better.

 

That shouldn't be confused with pining for a return of Mr Megson!

We were  better team with better payers under Megson than we are now.

 

But the club was toxic, the whole feel of the club is better now and you can see there is potential for something good to happen in next coupe of seasons.
