March 15, 201511 yr Fair enough Cas, Micky, Ani, Bowtun. I'm standing by Latics being Owdham and Leythers not being fond of being lumped in with Wiggin though. Still find it hard to understand why a fellow White would enjoy fishing with his own so much. I'm just a daft, naïve Bolty 51%er though!
March 15, 201511 yr Latics always meant Oldham to me too Guess it depends where you are from Oh, and Piemon has had a belting angling fest here Edited March 15, 201511 yr by jules_darby
March 15, 201511 yr Anybody know how many we've sold?Him formerly known as bwfc Dan told me 2,200 as of today.
March 15, 201511 yr So, number of games attended now has a bearing on how you can post, eh? Not at all I've not noted owt he's posted that would've raised an eyebrow if he wasn't from wiggin

I think he's over-reacted to some obvious wind ups from piemon and I was going to post as soon as he called them latics. There are other Wigan-based Bolton fans on here who I've never heard refer to Wigan by a non-derogatory nickname. The only two clubs I call by their nick names are the trotters, in an archaic way and Munich/dmb. March 15, 201511 yr And latics was Oldham to those of us of a certain age because little Wigan didn't really exist in league football.
March 15, 201511 yr And latics was Oldham to those of us of a certain age because little Wigan didn't really exist in league football. I'm considerably younger than you but agree. Oldham are a bigger club, always will be. I do like having Wigan as a rival even though we are clearly higher up the food chain.
March 15, 201511 yr Here's my rationale: Latics being Oldham reinforces the fact that Wigan are essentially JCLs to league football in the big picture, Piemon had a dig at me being a JCL on here (guilty as charged your worship) but certainly done my time with BWFC. So I've definitely bitten there. Secondly, most Wiganers I've met soon get in to the conversation that Wigan is innately superior to Bolton because as Wigan is, to paraphrase, 'less diverse'. Presumably Wigan is similarly superior to London/Paris/New York using this same basis as the sole yardstick? Sorry lads just don't like Wigan, the place the club, Dave Whelan and his two bob empire, nowt about it. Though I did sit some of my professional exams in Wigan and found the particular venue very welcoming. Edited March 15, 201511 yr by RoadRunnerFan

March 15, 201511 yr can we get a song going there's only one latics oldham oldham oldham and how the pie eating cunts get the name too It comes from the athletic part of the team name.
March 15, 201511 yr Mounts - Wanderers also applies to Wolves and Wycombe. Though last time I checked 'We are the one and only Wanderers!'
March 15, 201511 yr Both Oldham and Wigan are the latics. One of ww's dullest arguments solved. Who gives a fuck.
March 15, 201511 yr In fairness, I've never referred to either as Latics, in pretty much the same way as I never use "the Alex" to talk about Crewe. Piemon, whoever he is, comes from Wigan so he probably uses the nicknames Latics and Warriors to differentiate between his hometown clubs. I'd probably do the same in his position. I do, however, occasionally refer to Bacup Borough as the 'Boro, despite there being a slight possibility that someone might think I was talking about Middlesbrough.
March 16, 201511 yr This place has changed. FFS when has Wanderersways been about fact and not fiction. Must have met 100's off here over the past 12 years and not one person has taken issue at where i am geographically based. Im sure that Smiffs,JD NB and Leyther Matt etc are clued up enough to know my Leigh statements were said with tongue firmly in cheek hence the ninja smiley (deep down though theyll agree ) What is clear though is that Latics seem to be a bigger rival than (some of) you lot are letting on. You'll miss them as much as i will when they are gone. Biggest away of the season for me on Saturday and im sure that i will be drinking heavily with a good number of posters on here and supporting my team as venomously as the person next to me in that away end. i stand by my town centre comments though and on Saturday if you come over you will see for yourself what a town centre thats busy with shoppers looks like as im sure some of you have forgotten. One thing is for sure ill be able to soak up all my beer with a feast of fish that has swam into the net over the past 2 weeks and Piemon can make a big fish pie. Anyone wants to take personal issue with me may do so ill be around.
March 16, 201511 yr You'll miss them as much as i will when they are gone. I can honestly say that I wouldn't miss them one jot.
March 16, 201511 yr I absolutely concur that Wigan is a better shopping experience than Bolton. A lot better. I'm sure that's more to do with our relative town councils than anything and, until ours get their fingers out, that isn't going to change. Still never heard wigan refered to as Latics by anyone not supporting them. It might be a Old geezer thing.
March 16, 201511 yr I have a distant recollection that on entering the Football League in 1978 their nickname was The Glaziers, bizarrely. Dunno what happened to that one.
March 16, 201511 yr I have a distant recollection that on entering the Football League in 1978 their nickname was The Glaziers, bizarrely. Dunno what happened to that one. I think that was Palace for obvious reasons. Malcolm Allison changed it to 'The Eagles' along with their badge and the colour of their kit, in the days when managers could do that sort of thing.
March 16, 201511 yr Is that directed at me Cas? I've seen plenty games over 20 years let alone 5. If you vouch for him I'll have it he's Bolton but shirley you can see that's not how it looks. I'm not daft and can see his post count but don't recall much recent activity from him non Wigan related. PS I might not be in possession of the full facts but I'd like to think that most who know me wouldn't describe me as 'a thick fucker.' As have i. First game 89 Sherpa van trophy final against Torquay. Us Wiganers love a glory hunt. . id have been there sooner but my dad obviously wasnt ready to breed before mid 80's. I think Cas was talking in the sense of our 'demise' over the past few years. Cross referencing again here but Wigan Rugby's motto is 'Ancient and Loyal' and i like to think im of that mould with BWFC. We all want three points Saturday thats a given. Not seen a thread get bites on here like this for a while.
