  • He just called you a cunt

  • I’m a centre right, reasonably free thinking person with interests in theology and politics expressed in an eclectic and often poorly spelt manner. I won’t always be right (who is?)    I have a prof

  • They're singing "We're racist" for fucks sake. If it was a group of black men kicking a white bloke off a train in Bolton, you'd be saying they're animals and calling for them to be hung.

It's probably happened already, but I predict it's not long before incidents are being staged specifically for this purpose (sale to media companies, or for revenue-raising via clicks on Youtube).

Look at the Bolton News site tonight, 'Man pictured with box on head' - is this f*cking news? Is some z-grade celeb making an arsey comment on Twitter, news?

You could go out tonight and film all sorts of objectionable c*nts doing the things objectionable c*nts do, is this news?

I'd say not, it's shoehorning aspects of life into being 'news'.

Our news, especially online, is all about the clicks these days, and should be taken with a pinch of salt.

Again, you're avoiding the fact that a group of white English football fans prevented a black man from boarding a train in Paris, whilst singing "We're racist". If a group of black French football fans pushed a white man off a train at Bolton station, would you consider that newsworthy?

Think the main point Youri makes is fair, whilst not defending those whose behaviour is unacceptable it is also unacceptable to name & shame people without concrete evidence just because they were on the same train & happen to be in camera shot. Many of us have been innocent in similar situations I'm sure

They started singing after didn't they? Those singing seemed to be not the same ones who did the shoving...

If he'd (the bloke prevented from boarding) accused them of preventing his entry because they were racist, surely the singing could be explained as being ironic? I know this takes a big leap of credulity, but it's not a completely unfeasible situation.

Anything involving white racism seems to attract this immediate backlash, people always want to be seen as 'not racist' with immediate effect...

Considering your hypothetical situation, yes, it would be considered newsworthy, especially if it was filmed, I doubt it would've attracted the same amount of blanket condemnation or would've even been touched by more left-leaning organisations.

I'm saying exactly that's all it is & whatever the bloke may've said (which is the big missing in my opinion) it wasn't the big international incident the press are trying to make it out to be.

I'm just a cynic though wondering if the ex pat felt it needed to shown but didn't give it the police, gave it to the guardian

They had Dougie Brimson on 5 live this afternoon haha

I think I started a thread on some of the worse behaviour Ive witnessed watching Bolton and England once. This event wouldn't even make that list.

It's a cringeworthy situation and makes em out as total fucking morons.

At the moment we have a video with a clear edit in the middle start shows sone bloke ( identified as a psg Fan) trying to get on a busy train and pushing a Chelsea fan who reacts.. The fans then start chanting.. can be seen both ways. If you pushed someone in the street the way the french bloke does.. You would get your collar felt..

I'm beginning to wonder whether you've seen it all if that's your interpretation of it.

I saw a darkie on the tube today and he tripped over someone's bag, the owner (a whitey) immediately apologised and diffused a potentially news bound flashpoint.

Why does it matter that he sold it to a paper? Do freelance war correspondents hand over their footage for free? Bloke saw something interesting, someone was prepared to pay, thought that would go down well with the devil take the hindmost stand on your own two feet etc etc blah blah yawn capitalist captains of industry on here?

I''m beginning to wonder if you read the post underneath it offering the different view point..

amazingly showing a post out of context..

FWIW i don't know what's happened, what i have done is offered a different view point using eye witnesses statements (take a look around the different news sites)

Did he feel strongly enough to hand it over to the police? Fucking hell, talk about trying to shoe horn in a bit of a leftie dig.

If he'd handed over to the Paris police would it even be being investigated?

How do you know The Guardian paid him for it?

that wouldn't happen because only whiteys are racist

How do you know The Guardian paid him for it?

it was reported on the BBC this morning that he had sold the video to the newspaper.

How much did he get for the footage?

could the english police do owt and/or could the french police be arsed?

How much did he get for the footage?

more than he'd have got from the police.

more than he'd have got from the police.

How much though? And the police can see the footage anyway.

Russia and Ukraine trying to start ww3 IS going round beheading anyone who doesn't believe in medieval values but Chelsea fans singing a racist song makes the big news.

Pretty sure the Ukraine crisis and ISIS are massive headlines...

Fucking hell, if he felt that strongly since when has an inbox of a paper been the first port of call. Turns out he didn't feel all that strongly though but thought he could get some money.

OK, let's agree he's a cunt. Why are you more bothered about how the footage came to light, rather than what the footage actually shows???
