July 22, 201511 yr Why? Surely it's in the nation's best interests to have a strong opposition whatever your personal inclinations are? I'd genuinely never heard of him, then I saw a picture somewhere and recognised him as the bloke on Question Time a few weeks previous, if he's elected it's further proof that, like some jazz musicians, some, most of the political class are doing this purely for their own enjoyment, it's like openly wanking to whatever floats your boat, or sommat like that. Politicians enjoy their playing far more than anyone listened does. I haven't been drinking, yet (nor am I going to be drinking to comiserate, I don't support Labour)

You can just see them thinking it all out round a kitchen table in Islington. Now we must have one person, one vote and there are many Labour supporters out there who can't afford the full membership fee and they should have a voice. Let's allow folk to pay £3 and then they can vote to choose a new leader, just like that. The fact that they couldn't think it through and predict what would happen shows why they should be allowed nowhere near governing the country.

I think there is a genuine appetite for an alternative. Although perhaps not amongst the great and the good of WW. I was broadly supportive of the last administration - like I said at the time, they were a necessary evil and I think the Lib Dems acted as a useful social handbrake. Unfortunately that handbrake has now been removed and we're now about to head off the cliff. In a few years time there is going to be a great deal of unrest and unease and that would create a lovely little niche for a genuine left winger. Be careful what you wish for Bolty old bean! Personally - I'd still prefer Andy Burnham providing he sticks to his principles, but the early signs aren't too promising.
July 23, 201511 yr I like Andy Burnham but he won't win a vote south of the thelwall viaduct. That's the issue with him. Mind it seems its Scotland where it's won and lost. Labour get rid of the SNP and they are back in power next time IMO. Sounds easy.

It may happen, and it may be a major factor in Labour regaining power if they do, but it cannot alone change anything.
