Feeney and Clough looked lively. Thought Pratley played well too. Much more competitive than you'd normally expect from a friendly so a decent workout.

  • Only real gripe last night was some of the whinging fans near me. With in a minute Wilson was a donkey because he'd made a mistake, and I'm pretty sure Moxey must have shagged one blokes wife.   No

Bluddy terrible. Lord help us if we set up like that against derby.

442 diamond

Played off the park first half. Couldn't get near them. Because it was a diamond as soon as the full backs had the ball they had absolutely no outlet. Therefore we ended up giving the ball away.

Persisted with the 2 strikers and dobbie pushing very high which meant as soon as they were passed we was wide open.

Feeney improved us as suddenly we had some one willing to go wide instead of having 6 hung in the centre of the pitch

Amos constantly kicking to clough instead of madine.

Absolutely bonkers that we'd play some completely new set up the last game before the start of the season.

Then again don't read anything into friendlies...

Yes. Don't read anything into friendlies. Fleetwood have beaten Getafe 2-0.

Thought we started slowly but gradually got to grips with Charlton and in the end should have won I liked Mavies in the deep lying midfield role where he can pull the strings and stay away from heavy challenges I really think he's going to be a revelation there, if there's a better player in the championship than Zach Clough id be very suprised his touch is international class he is a Rolls Royce of a player , Madine also looks a player great in the air decent touch and will cause defenders loads of problems, now the worries our defence tonight was suspect I'm hoping at least 3 other defenders start on Saturday but i will say pleasantly surprised by Wilson thought he looked decent especially going forward. All in all decent performance but Saturday's a big test against a very good team.

We did some good stuff. Impressed with Osede. Still some ironing out to do.

Charlton were slick & pacy, but their dubious goal was 3-4 yards offside.

Home.

Any news on Derek?

Anyone still moaning about Feeney?

Derik having a scan on his ankle tomorrow. Iles saying looks like he will be out for a few weeks

Decent work out that. Derik and Madine caught my eye and Clough and Pratley looked like they are about to continue from where they left off before they got injured.

However...........the defence is really fucking worrying. When a side can waltz through us at times like they did doesn't fill me with confidence. Players not good enough or formation totally wrong??

Id put it down to formation. Second half we looked a lot more assured at the back (baring their goal where Clough lost the ball(?) with too many men forward). I don't think the diamond worked too well.

It was surprising what a difference Feeney made tonight, he was the one that wanted to make things happen. Should've buried that one that Clough teed up for him with a superb touch but he scored one which cant be faulted

Edit: Dervite looked good against that Ibra wannabe aswell

We're in trouble

Saw that Rob Holding came on when Derik was injured. Did he go to centre back and how did he look?

He went centre back did not have much to do but they scored equalizer soon after osede went off but no blame on Holding, he's right size for centre half very tall.

I've seen Holding a couple of times. Not enough to judge but certainly first impressions are favourable. With him Finney, Taylor, White, Threlkeld, Maher coming through we suddenly have defenders who have a chance to make it.

where is threlkeld?

is he injured as well?

I don't think it's just the back 4. I think it's the way we don't defend well enough as a team.

Agreed.

Bloke behind me was chuntering on all game that we've still got too many midgets that are easily knocked off the ball

Sort of had to agree every time it happened

If Charlton are 2nd favs for the drop, we ought to be 3rd based on that 90 mins. Should have won in the end but could have been two down before we scored with pretty much our first effort. They looked lively for half an hour but only had one good player, albeit a very good one up front.

First half no impact at all going forward, second a lot better, Feeney made things happen and liked him in what looked to be a sort of free role.

We did do some good things when we got the ball off them (the one Clough had saved late on would have been a great counter-attacking goal), and if we'd had their lad Watt up front for us we'd have scored five. But, and a big but, we still look far too easy to score through, even with Derik, who does look decent. Teams still get down the sides of us too easily and get unchallenged crosses in far too often. Wilson was decent, remembered liking him when he played against us for them last season.

Big concern for me is Madine and Dobbie don't look like adding any significant number of goals, and the likes of LeFondre are apparently by-passing us for Blackburn. Unless we pull a rabbit out of the loan market hat who can finish, I don't see where we'll score enough to even up the number we'll let in week by week.

Wasn't optimistic before I turned up last night and saw nothing much to change that I'm afraid

Having seen the highlights, how is there first goal not at least 5 yards offside.

I was pretty much in line. Lino was in front of me. No idea what he was looking at. Not the football, clearly. Awful decision. But hey-ho it's a new season of useless refs & dopey linos. Get used to it.

Think it was 1/2 yard Wilson at right back was close to playing him on as the ball was played.

1/2 yards is still offside. Scandalous

Yer, more like 3yds

Now I know there's not been loads to shout about recently, but to turn up to almost go out your way to be a negative fucker is something I'll never quite get.

How many turned up ?
