To be fair he didnt and hasnt bought any one he has cobbled this team together without spending a penny and raising a profit of a couple of million pounds from selling players and rid the club of god knows how much in wages. The finger of blame should not be pointed at Lennon, the blame lies with E.D. and Gartside for completely mismanaging the finances and chooisng piss poor managers while we were in the premier league.

Ironically the majority of fans still want is to spend beyond our means right now, just as they have for years.

Rioch signed Mcginlay and Allardyce signed Ricketts for very low fees but Lennon hasn't been able to pull a rabbit out of the hat.

 

Still, my sympathy is with Lennon.I don't think he has been given enough money to do the job adequately.

Madines showing no physicality his confidence is on the floor, a club at this level can't compete with 1 38 year old striker and another who's hardly played at this level it is a joke if we're not going to compete they might as well wrap the club up.

A good point, I know we all thought we would be in a relegation scrap from the off, but this is not looking good. Staying in any division will at some point mean scoring goals, Bolton don't have anybody who can score at present.

 

I've said it on the other thread, but Madine leading the line isn't great, if he's up front all season, we're going down. I know you think we should stick with him Mounts, bu he really isn't good enough.....granted he's as good as we have at the minute, but he's still not good enough. if we stay loyal and support the club by buying home tickets and as fans we stick together we can then go forward again. Getting rid of Neil Lennon is not the answer he's the right man for the job.

Getting rid of the current manager certainly isn't the right thing to do, we need some sort of stability. I think it's clear that

Lennon isn't the Messiah, if he can keep us in this division, under current circumstances, then he's doing good job though.

 

The one good thing, I suppose, is those who were worried about him jumping ship to go to a "better" job don't need to fret, as surely no other club would really want to touch him, as his record here isn't great.

 

The worry is your point about fans "staying loyal and buying home tickets" - if we continue as we are, we all know this won't happen, and we'll be on circa 10K attendances as we ended up with at the back end of last season, and that's a real worry, especially as the parachute payments finish this year. You think it's bad now, wait until next year.....it could be even worse

Correct, I would imagine all professional football clubs have a reasonably good scouting network......you can scout who you want, if you don't have the cash though, it matters not.

I will continue to go home games but no more away games sick of watching us lose our away form is awful not wasting anymore money! Does anyone know NL away record since he came to the club and how it stacks up against Freedmans ? I stand by my earlier comments though honeymoon period over!

Forgetting the shite build up play, ridiculously slow approach to getting the ball forward and woeful defending and positioning, the biggest sin we are committing and which is indefensible is the number of times we are losing individual battles. No fight, no thundering tackles, no dominating other players.

 

If there's one way of getting the fans on side it's getting stuck in and showing some passing. Not one sign of that.

Agree with all this.  Promotion or the play offs was never going to happen....staying up & hopefully showing some small signs of progress would be success this season.

 

Trouble is, yesterday's 2nd half defensive collapse, attacking feebleness & all round hopelessness against a bottom half team, had a real relegation feel about it. Add on the last 20 games of last season, & this is a long run of decline.

 

That said, I completely agree that this is not a time for sacking the manager ( whoever was in charge would face the same problems ), scapegoating of individual players (no player has ever improved by having abuse shouted at him from his own fans ) or crackpot campaigns against ED & PG. As supporters we can help a bit by sticking by the club/team during these hard times.

Spearing missed the Burton game with his suspension , played v boro and was hauled off, has been collecting splinters ever since.

He's behind Pratley, davies, Danns and Vela in Lennons thinking.
