I think you're right. The human race could very well be about to regress in a way we haven't seen since the dark ages. I'm not taking the piss either. If we allow the religious to win the clash of ideas then our next millennia could see us going backwards.

I totally agree & it's not just the rayguns, you're right. The Christian Right in America are getting worse, killing doctors, denying gays a life, teaching creationism. Jews refusing to turn the TV on of a Friday night, Jewish police killing kids who are unfortunate enough to have parents who encourage them to throw stones at the 'enemy'.

We've got police units in this country dealing with forced marriages for Gudni's sake. These girls are born in this country I've also witnessed in the last 10 years the decline of civil liberties in Indonesia and the rise of Sharia law. Atheist bloggers in Bangladesh being killed by braying mobs who've been paid to act like that by religious elders. It's like there's a competition between religions who is the nastiest. The rayguns are currently winning by a mile though imo.

I used to think, crack on, it's harmless but now, it's all so depressing and makes you wonder why people actually choose to follow a religion.

And if you do get that depressed, you can't even kill yourself as your God won't let you in.

Unfortunately noballs, it's always been like that. We're just more aware of it today.

All the wealth belonging to less and less percentage of population, leaving nowt for the masses but to follow these fuckin stone age beliefs in order to belong and give some hope or some justification of why they are on the planet.

 

Kill religion, make science and education the new god, teach birth control to align population with resources and agree an economic model not based on growth and we have it.

On the road signs, in that area, where the TV cameras have shown, on the translation from their language into ours, they have it called ` Makkah`. There are so many variations of Islamic words, such as Quran and Koran etc. Does anyone know why this is?

When these words were first translated into western languages they were written as they were spoken. So it was just different interpretations of how to spell what was being said.
