Just had a meeting on Churchgate. Sad to see the Bolton News offices empty. And in a week or two the Travel Counsellors building opposite will be empty. Another 200+ people spending approx £20 per week on parking and lunches in the town... plus whatever other services they spend their hard-earned on - all being lost. Very sad state of affairs.

 

When will it get better? Should these empty offices be turned into apartments?

It’s a good question. I had a good childhood friend who was Asian but not Muslim. Used to support the whites, drink like a fish, usual lad stuff. So maybe it’s religion that I have a problem with. I still stand by the ghetto slums they create. I’ve even spoke in depth about it with Asian Muslim lads. And you know what they didn’t disagree. Some said their families are from shit holes back in Pakistan and it’s all they know.

I work in an area with loads of Polish folk. They are hard working ace people and its a shame a lot left after brexit.

However they live in a part of town that's a fucking shit hole due to its cheap housing and proximity to employment. I wouldn't move there if I was homeless.

None of them are my friends and I wouldn't choose to mix with any of them as they probably dont like Bolton or pints in Thornton-Cleveleys.

Its not their fault the areas a shit hole, its just the affordable housing that landed them there.

When you read about the effects of covid- it was arguably far more influential, with folk unable to work/wanting to be back with family etc.

But, as they were both happening simultaneously, its impossible to tell.
