Town Centre Latest

Just had a meeting on Churchgate. Sad to see the Bolton News offices empty. And in a week or two the Travel Counsellors building opposite will be empty. Another 200+ people spending approx £20 per week on parking and lunches in the town... plus whatever other services they spend their hard-earned on - all being lost. Very sad state of affairs.

When will it get better? Should these empty offices be turned into apartments?

The Food Hall has opened at Bolton Market. Had a mooch around. Didn’t buy anything but it both looks and smells good. Various stalls with a variety of foods and a small bar.  I’ve said previously, t

He/she has highlighted a few interesting views though. Mainly the hypocritical, middle class, left wing, woke apologist twats who are quick to throw the working class areas of Bolton under the bus to prove they aren’t racist. Shithole here, shithole there. Most of the posters replying to Joe 90 aren’t even from Bolton.
I take personal offence, and I don’t say that lightly, from those who called Farnworth a shithole. Albert Finney, Hilda Baker, Alan Ball, Jason Kenny, Mum and Dad and my son, all came from Farnworth. (I came from L/H)

He/she has certainly highlighted the snobbery of the left. Who’d have thought it.

Blimey, that seemed heartfelt

I grew up in Halliwell, Great Lever and Smithills.

Won’t be going back, so folk can say what they like about the places.

Poor response. I take it we all agree then that you're spouting bollocks as per.

And not really - woking from 6, I'm in a read through this afternoon (you sit with the actors as they go through the script) today so less meetings, and then I'm working until about 10 tonight to catch up emails.

I'll let you get back to counting clouds.

Yes. I am spouting bollocks. But I got a response from you. Sorry to interrupt your busy schedule. Crack on lad.👍

Heartfelt. Yes that’s the word I was looking for. Thanks.👍

Of course you did, can't let such rubbish - of which I see you have no defence of - lie.

Carry on, tea break isn't for another hour and they are just discussing blocking (you can google that one)

Food for thought there, but perhaps for a different thread.

As for the descriptors used- from my perspective having worked in them, whatever term is used, the very fabric of some of these places is terrible. Litter strewn, vandalism etc.

Sadly, that comes about because of the behaviour of some of the inhabitants. Not all of them by any means, good folk have and will continue to be raised in them, but we do have a society now which is more accepting of the mess they're in.

No, as I say they are blocking (go on teach yourself something  - old dogs, new tricks and all that)

I’m sat in the garden enjoying the sun. You’re in some kind of meeting replying to someone talking bollocks. 😅

What's even funnier/sadder (delete whatever adjective you feel best suits) is that some on here are jumping with all their little glee at this weeze/wate of time (again up to you for the best descriptor)

Anyway, its been boring as fuck since saturday and continues to be.

Yet here you are multiple posts later

Not a meeting - its a read through in the American Church on TCR. Its been a lovely day meeting the cast of a great new show and then I'll be going for supper once I've finished in Soho. You enjoy your garden, put your feet up, get your slippers on, you deserve the rest.

Ok then. Let’s say you are travelling through Ireland. Real authentic Ireland. You say let’s stop off and visit a local pub and drink a real Irish Guiness. You go down to the nearest council estate and there are horses running through it. Toothless simpletons and  people with eyebrows on their cheeks roam the streets and men in platform shoes are being arrested for bombings.

I was born in New Bury at my grans in 1969, we lived in Farnworth down by the Town Hall until 1973 when the council built the Highfield Estate, where I lived until I went to Uni in 1987.

After Uni, I lived on Plodder Lane until 1999, before moving out of the borough.

Highfield/Farnworth was a shithole back then, it's a bigger shithole now.
I know this, because my parents and my brother still live there. My parents live within a couple of hundred yards of where some of NiC's relatives live(d).

No left-wing snobbery here, I'm just calling it like it is.

I’m afraid it’s always been the way. I was working on estates 30 years ago and they were proper grim.

Moved into a council house on an estate when I was 11 and it was a step up for us. (Inside toilet) I’ll refer back to my initial post and the middle class snobbery quote. Socialists my arse.
Pure snobbery.

Don’t know if you’re accusing me of snobbery. If so you’re so way off the mark it’s laughable.

Have you ever lived on a council estate?

He/she has gone beyond boring now. We get it that he/she doesn't like Asian Muslims. We get it.

Apart from Sweep, who is from Barbados,  I think everyone who has mentioned shit hole areas is within their rights to refer to them as that.

Some interesting points you make there. Yet still you’ve only ever socialised with brown faces about 20 plus years ago. Remember you once played cricket with one. Are you actively trying to avoid them now? Would you say your social circle is representative of todays diverse society? So many questions but unfortunately I’m on my last night shift and it’s a busy one. Those baddies won’t catch themselves! Then I’m off to sunnier climate’s tomorrow and I’ll be surrounded by people who look like you and me and hopefully being served by people who look like them. (lower daubhilites) just how it should be. (insert smiley wink) so farewell to you and my fellow Anglo Saxon posters. (Noticed there’s only one brown faced posters on here. Mr bardadian. How very 1960’s England) -wa alayakumu s-Salam brothers 😘

No. I lived in succession of terraced houses. Didn’t have a garden until I was 30.

That make me a snob?
