Just had a meeting on Churchgate. Sad to see the Bolton News offices empty. And in a week or two the Travel Counsellors building opposite will be empty. Another 200+ people spending approx £20 per week on parking and lunches in the town... plus whatever other services they spend their hard-earned on - all being lost. Very sad state of affairs.

 

When will it get better? Should these empty offices be turned into apartments?

I grew up in Great Lever, went to school in Farnworth. Had fuck all money.

I still drive through it.

It's not any different from what I can see.

Call it a shithole if you like, I take no offence. My Mum had a picture of Thatcher in the window at election time regardless 🙂

My other half grew up with an outside lav in a rented terrenced house in Gilesgate. Funnily enough she hasn't turned into a raving loon about pulling yourself up by the bootstraps and totally ignoring the structual issues that creates this divide in wealth - sex, age, geography and yes ethnicity all contribute. To say otherwise is simplitsic divisionist tripe, and then to boil hypocrisy down to 'would you live in a place that wasn't quite as nice as another' ignores the actual issue and is just there to point a finger and childishly go, 'ner, ner, ner look at you on the hypocricical left' which is about as useful a term as 'the Blod.' Meaningkless and again just there to sow a division.
