Town Centre Latest

Just had a meeting on Churchgate. Sad to see the Bolton News offices empty. And in a week or two the Travel Counsellors building opposite will be empty. Another 200+ people spending approx £20 per week on parking and lunches in the town... plus whatever other services they spend their hard-earned on - all being lost. Very sad state of affairs.

When will it get better? Should these empty offices be turned into apartments?

I was born in New Bury at my grans in 1969, we lived in Farnworth down by the Town Hall until 1973 when the council built the Highfield Estate, where I lived until I went to Uni in 1987.

After Uni, I lived on Plodder Lane until 1999, before moving out of the borough.

Highfield/Farnworth was a shithole back then, it's a bigger shithole now.
I know this, because my parents and my brother still live there. My parents live within a couple of hundred yards of where some of NiC's relatives live(d).

No left-wing snobbery here, I'm just calling it like it is.

YES.

Quick catch-up and yet again disgraceful comments a plenty. How much disrespect can a man give to his family/grandparents. A family who tried their best to give you a good upbringing and your memories of that are ‘thanks to my family they brought me up in a shithole!’ Do/did you ever tell them this? I presume no because it wouldn’t be a nice thing to do. To totally degrade the family and friends you left behind there because you now live in an idyllic neighbourhood. There’s a documentary on sky called Hatton. It’s about a working class lad who came from a tough working class neighbourhood like you but made a very successful life for himself. Bit like you. Difference is he admits life was tough early on but never once did he give the same disrespect as you do. He was proud of his roots. Unlike you. I suggest you watch it and learn what it is to be humble and have some humility. You might just become a little more likeable. But I’m expecting you to say I’m happy nobody likes me. Blah blah another contrarian. Yawn.

They flew over Horwich yesterday.

They we’re going really low as I believe they had just dropped some UN aid parcels over the bottom part of Deane.

Somewhat disingenuous those pics, as your probably know, and for more than one reason, but it's frankly not worth arguing over.

It'll be packed today with the weather.

I lived round there for a few years as a kid, it was a little rough round the edges but made some great friends.

Went last year and it was fantastic. Intended to go this year too but stuff got in the way.

The red arrows are currently displaying over the sea at Southport.

The came from the North, so what way they will leave?

I'm sure you did.

As the thread has discussed earlier, that aspect isn't under question.

I had a good childhood in Breightmet but the area still has a reputation now.
