Yep, foreign investment and subsequent job creation. Of course he's had to defend himself over and over again due to the kind of actions that repulsive silicone and Botox gutterslag Pelosi is now trying it on with. Predicting she will fail.

When the time comes, Americans will vote from their hip pocket nerve. That will be the test. If they are doing well, four more years is a big possibility.

He promised to eliminate the national debt in 8 years but all he has done with his £1.5 trillion tax give away is hike the national debt to £22 trillion or 80% of GDP. Economists expect that the national debt will be 50% higher by 2025 (if he stays in office) than it was when he was elected in 2016.

He hasn't regenerated the jobs in the rust rust belt he promised. He has not made the progress he likes to think he has on the international front other than damage the world's economy with trade wars and taking Iran/Middle East to the brink. His base will lap up his rhetoric but dig beneath the surface and he has taken the US back decades in terms of their standing in the world.

I've just got back from 10 days in China, it's safe to say that some of the people I visited are being badly hurt by the US/China trade war. The product type that I'm involved with now has a 30% tariff when entering the US, so they've obviously seen their sales drop through the floor. A few of the shrewder companies all ready have facilities in Taiwan, so they just do the final assembly from there and ship out the the US from Taiwan, which eliminates any issues. It is causing a problem, it's safe to say they don't like Trump too much over there

 

 Trump did a lengthy monologue yesterday about hitting the Chinese hard with high import tariffs on their goods. He claims out has driven the US citizens to purchase similar products where the tariffs aren't so high or are home-built.

He also said he wants China to stop allowing the rest of the world to do all the development of products and then have China steal all the plans and patents and produce their own versions.

I can't disagree with him that China are not playing fair in world commerce.

I was watching all this on BBC World News while getting ready to go out last night so am paraphrasing.

I think that's a bit unfair these days, certainly 10 years or so ago, it was a big problem, and no doubt some of it goes on now, but they're certainly leading the way in some design and technology, and I'd expect that to continue to increase over the coming years. 

Another way of stopping (or at least slowing) them "stealing" plans and ideas is to stop asking them to do the manufacturing of the products in the first place

 And there's the issue. What's a bit of industrial espionage between friends?

I agree that China has got away with so much over time and there needs to be redress but there are better ways to crack that problem than damaging the world's economy in the process.

As you say, look elsewhere for manufacturing facilities, and put tariffs on stuff if this is how they behave.

I bought a hoe a while back. Thought it was cheap, but used it for the first time. As I thrust it into the soil, the blade curled back on itself as it had no structural integrity and wasn't fit for purpose.

I checked, and discovered it was made in china.

How the fuck shit like this is allowed into the country I don't know, but it sums it up.
