25 Years Ago Tomorrow

We played some filthy bastards at Old Trafford in the fourth round of the Cup.

10,000 Whites present, most Salford lads were too loved up in the E scene to bother with our huge mob.

Is that really 25 years ago? FFS. The walk down matt busy way with that Bolton mob was one of the highlights of my football life, just feeling their hate was like a warm comforting glow, didn't take 1 step towards us. ????

Aye, 25 years pal. Remember it like it was yesterday. 400 of us there very early doors.

Their lot were notable by their absence.

Also 41 years ago tomorrow since Huddersfield away.

I remember the coaches on the East Lancs. It was like the coach park at Wembley. I also remember telling my oldest son, who was 10 at the time, that I would be swearing and that it would be a one off because I have issues with them.

Wonderful when they brought out the survivors so we could serenade them

My mum wouldn't let my dad take me :(

I was right behind the goal.

The sound of Mark Hughes volley spinning in the net just before the noise of their crowd still haunts me. The Welsh cunt.

The "Bolton Reds" banner in the home end should have seen some cunts hanging from the town hall clock.

They knew we didn't like them after that day though.

Great day.

Every time they tried to sing U-ni-ted, it was followed by 10 thousand Whites shouting 'Shit'

They soon stopped :D

That Bolton Reds flag didn't stay up long though.

Anything that could be thrown was launched at him.

Then the stewards made him take it down before a full scale riot started.

Can't believe it was 25 years ago.

We'd have played em the following year too if wasnt for Barry bastard Horne

or flappy felgate

A great day...& just an appetizer for some amazing cup exploits that were to follow.

That's the last time i ever went to OT. (I was lucky enough to have been there for the Frankie Worthy game a few years earlier )

I think the next one there was the munich anniversary game & there was so much hassle about it that we boycotted it & i've never been back since. When i throw a sulk, it stays thrown, plus I never wanted to give any money to the horrible cunts.

The next game there was 95/96 and we didn't get (m)any tickets because they were rebuilding for Euro 96. The Munich anniversary game was the next visit after that when Bob Taylor scored while sat on his arse (February 1998)

Last ever beam back at Burnden??

The game we didn't get any tickets there was quite a few whites in the south stand around me.

I was there for that as well. Where there is a will, there is a way. Took the eldest again and he wore his Bolton jacket. Got some funny looks but as I said to him on the day, fuck em. ( second time he heard me swear)

Still got ace memories of a tidy untouched mob of us in the 2001/02 game getting off the train at Deansgate, then walking down to be fronted by a decent size firm outside the Pig n Porcupine, before discovering they were Bolton as well.

Pretty sure Mounts and Co were the ones outside the Porcupine that day. They were all ugly bastards............

Fifteen years ago, seems like this morning.

One of my first proper tasters of what it was all about that day ;)

Remember Gary Lee coming in and pulling the bar shutter down himself haha

That was some bloody hike to the ground. Got in just at veron scored.

Skipped the escort from the p&p that day thankfully. There was a manic manc phoning round in there early on, don't think he could believe how many boys we had out.

I was inside the pig and porcupine few off their boys came inside the pub they got sussed pretty quickly the cops came in and they quickly said were united let us leave, the cops didn't believe them, we then got herded outside again the United lads tried in vain to escape unfortunately for them we dragged them back into the escort they were shitting themselves and faces were a picture, in the end the mass cordon of police around us decided to spare them more grief and pulled them out to safety. We got escorted the long way round past the cricket ground and just got in to see Veron score. Great day out was that.

That's scary. I remember queuing up to get my tickets at BP and the end of of the line was almost in the town centre.

No great stories from that day, other than it was such a massive occasion for us in our late teens to be seeing us at such a huge stadium in front of a massive crowd and the biggest Bolton following I'd ever seen.

Do remember the Bolton Reds flag. Was it not from Kearsley? Pretty sure it was.

Think it prompted them to get their act together for couple of fixtures after that ;)
