March 6, 201610 yr Cheers sounds good, need 2-3 quotes so will ring him.???? I got hold of him through my builder, so knew straight away he could be trusted. Stuck with him for nearly 10years now and never used anyone else. Recommended him to a fair few people too, without any problems. He's pretty tough to get hold of as he's so busy but do keep trying.
March 6, 201610 yr Need a new boiler thinking of going for a combi boiler anyone got any good plumbing contacts? Make sure you don't just get somebody wanting to sell you just a cheap combi. These aren't always suitable for every house depending on hot water demand ie how many bathrooms you have etc. lots of people are sold on the idea of no tanks and combi doing everything but not always the case. Also it's worth paying the extra couple of hundred for a decent make like Worcester or Vaillant. The amount of 4 and 5 year old b&q specials I end up ripping out is unreal!

My company manufacture hot water cylinders. Combi's really aren't the best option these days. An unvented cylinder and decent boiler is the best way to go.

March 6, 201610 yr well you would say that then Ssshhhh I'm providing solid consumer advice based on independent research.

Would probably agree for bigger family homes. The water pressure from unvented is quality! Not everybody has the ticket for installing unvented though so I can imagine some people would talk them down.
March 6, 201610 yr We are having a Worcester Bosch combi fitted this week. The lad I use is local to me in Macclesfield and has always done quality work for us and our family and friends. I'm sure he will travel if you don't find anyone local to you.
March 6, 201610 yr We have a Worcester Bosch combi boiler and we've had nothing but problems with it. Numerous gas valves, circuit boards new fan etc good job I have an insurance policy with unlimited callouts. Pretty sure condensing boilers are the way to go and I've heard you should save about a third off your annual heating bill so you'll get your money back for the extra cost after a couple of years or so. Condensing boilers are supposed to be much more reliable and Worcester Bosch are giving 10 year guarantees on them.
March 6, 201610 yr ours sounds like a jet engine firing up its prob pushing 35 years old cost me a 25 quid fix in 15 years lord knows how inefficient it is
March 7, 201610 yr I've got a Worcester Green Star and it flooded. Was quoted daft amounts off self employed heating engineers but a mate who's ex British Gas told me to take out their cover. I phoned them, they fixed my boiler in no time, it's a 12 month contract, it's £21 a month unlimited parts, labour and call out. The engineer from BG told us it would usually cost £900 to replace the damaged parts, so once my contract is up I won't be renewing as it's practically new

March 7, 201610 yr Of course you can. Just make sure you seal all the joints with either electrical or masking tape. It'll be reet. when my mother was a kid she called round to her mates en route to school to walk together. Curtains shut and she let herself in to see what was up. Whole family dead in their beds. Dad worked for the gas board and had rigged the meter. There's a cheery story for a Monday morning.
March 7, 201610 yr do it yourself only a few pipes how hard can it be give it a go we all have start somewhere with D I Y I did mine without even shutting the gas off to save time.
March 7, 201610 yr ours sounds like a jet engine firing up its prob pushing 35 years old cost me a 25 quid fix in 15 years lord knows how inefficient it is Ours was like that, it was the original from when the house was built so it was 34 years old when it eventually died - had never cost us a bean in the 10 years we'd been in the house by the time it went. Anyway, we got rid as it couldn't be revived (in fact the bloke who came out to look at it condemned it straight away, as it was apparently leaking water internally, which we didn't know) - so we went combi, which meant we got to rip out the old tank and increase the size of the bathroom - our bills have gone down fairly significantly as well, so I'm guessing it wasn't the most efficient thing in the world
March 7, 201610 yr British gas quoted £4500 you will have to wait till next weekend To get Dry Bum Fucked and it wont be off British Gas
