  • You saw the situation and decided to move away. IMO your desicion to abandon shop makes your views on any solution irrelevant.   It ain't flippant just my opinion.

Are you one of those disinfected voters?

  • I am with Cheese on this, I vote at every election, even is only to write swear words on the ballot paper. The Euro elections with 9 candidates was a challenge but pissflaps let me use every box.

Chorley old road, all down oxford grove...

I don't feel safe around there at night, as the main problem is that the migrants tend to walk around in groups... they probably aren't up to much but its intimidating all the same.

Haha! I don't "feel" safe walking through certain council estates. So fucking what? I've walked through them plenty of times and nothing has ever happened. Should we imprison drunk teenagers because of the way they make me "feel"?

Opposite our Primary School Carlos....early 80s.....that was as rough as it got

Viva De Lacey Drive!

Rough as it got, yep, without a doubt one of the most notorious streets in the country. But they were our lot, so that's ok.

If anyone thinks the UK is currently traveling down the right road then they need locking up, ghettos are developing there getting bigger by the day the underclass is expanding at an alarming rate, large swathes of northern towns are run ran by a faith that is foreign to the indigenous population, if I was younger I'd be off ASAP to somewhere that protects its borders and restricts and controls the rate of immigration to a sensible and controlled level and controls its own laws and regulations and negotiates its own trade agreements.

What's the "right road" we should be travelling down? And what is the "underclass"?

its not the teenagers and you know its not..

I live on Johnson fold and walk my dog at about 10pm every night.. feel fine around there.

Mate drive down Halliwell or Astley bridge on a Friday afternoon and tell me the same.

Once decent areas with hardworking local people is now a fucking hovel created by Clifford's gateway utopia.

I grew up in Halliwell and it started to go downhill fastest during the mid nineties with the expansion of buy to let and fashion for moving problem families out of council estates and into private rented.

Then came the Houses of Multiple Occupancy and asylum seekers long before the current crew from the 2004 EU accession countries from c2004 onwards. By which time I had crossed 110th Street and don't know much about it.

So in the humble opinion of someone who lived and breathed it for many years I pin the blame on national policies like right to buy and the liberalisation of buy to let lending, alongside global/EU migration trends.

The later gateway nonsense can't have helped but the place was gone by then due to factors well outside local governments limited powers.

Still, those that want to blame on Morris, crack on if it makes you feel better.

What's age got to do with it? - if this place is that shockingly shit, then why not leave now?

Out of interest, if you were to go, where would be so much better? - presumably only Australia or New Zealand. One of them is full of very dull individuals who also recently had their own ISIS attack...and the other is New Zealand, which I can see the appeal in

You're bang on there RoadRunner about the estates...can't think of any estates that are as notorious or crime ridden as they were in the 80's/90s.

The Dickie Bird estate in bury was supposed to be proper rough.

After living there for 5 yrs the biggest problems i had were folk not putting their dogs on leads and teenagers using an empty houses back garden as a place to have a bonfire and booze up in one summer.

Certainly saw lots worse 15yr ago in Cov than anything i've seen in my 34yrs living and working in the north west and that includes my time living in Cheetham Hill.

The only problem i have with our immigrant populace is that none of the fuckers obey basic rules of the road.

But what does this mean?

Similar Tone Police (!?) tactics happened to the Prime Minister when he used the term 'swarms' to describe people breaking through fences in France, Some people got offended-by-proxy to possibly divert attention away from whatever issue or point the PM was trying to make. It rumbled on for a few days, but ultimately didn't gain traction and got forgot completely once that kid drowned on that beach. Which Itself got forgotten once rumours that the lads father was driving the dinghy.

[i don't know if that's what you were doing, but that's ^ what i thought back to]

The Donald Trump thing was a reference to people going "racist/fascist" to any point made about almost anything. If used as the go to  insult, It'll lose its "power" , so much so that people will just ignore it and provoke those people with pictures and videos.

Think they now call those "triggers".

Sorry mate, just forget it. No hard feelings.

I live in decent area now I left LH 17 years ago and never regretted it, wouldn't ever dream of returning to live there. I've already got my bolt hole sorted in rural area in Spain for when I want to escape, feel sorry for folk who have to live in some of these god forsaken places.

Who are you scared of then?

Bears and Lions. I'm scared of them

Sorry mate, just forget it. No hard feelings.

No, i know, it's just talk.

I thought i'd explain myself better.

The bolton council results stil have a chunk of UKIP vote , seems different than when the BNP got some

Dunno what to think. Dunno if it'll get talked about as a 'protest vote' still.

I've already got my bolt hole sorted in rural area in Spain for when I want to escape, feel sorry for folk who have to live in some of these god forsaken places.

Aye, but Spain has the same issues we have, so going there is no different to being here really......Other than your location in Spain. I live in rural Bedfordshire, and it's great, I love it and can't see myself leaving here.

Although....when I retire in a few years time, I will move abroad in the search of warmth. I find our climate a bit shit

Bears and Lions. I'm scared of them

What about Tigers?

We still have our native white trash but if my visit late last night to Bolton A&E is anything to go off we have a new lot of Eastern European trash too.

What about Tigers?

Ooh, them as well

And spiders....I hate them

There was an idea that made me laugh.

It basically was to kickstarter for a house to be bought next door to some politician (near say , tony blair or hillary clinton), and rent/fill/whatever it to immigrants.

Not sure what it was trying to say, but i think it had more to do with "this town can take hundreds off immigrants coz the housing/cost of living is cheap as fuck" and turn that on its head.

Sadiq Khan elected as London Mayor.

I would kove to hear Bolty's view on a first muslim mayor?

They're not picky, cockney twats, they had a fucking cat as Mayor once.

good point. I never thought Brexit would be a good idea but if it means the UK can cherry pick who comes then reluctantly I say why not.

Here, there's a completely different attitude to immigration in spite of proportionately it being higher than the UK. It's quite rare to hear anyone against it. If you're importing skilled, hard workers it's a no-brainer. And before anyone plays the race card, much of the immigration here is from India, China and continental Europe, not just their colonial cousins.

hope nothing too serious for the A&E visit.
