May 4, 201610 yr Leicester's most used 11 this season cost £23m, Chelsea's equivalent last season was £220m+ and the winners before that all well over £150m in the last 4 or 5 seasons. They might have bought a few £8m players but they've got 32 year old Wes Morgan lifting the cup who has played almost all his career in the Championship! Add to that, Simpson, Drinkwater, Albrighton, Vardy, Schmiechel and I don't know how anything can compete with what they have done over a 38 game season. They've lost 3 games!
May 4, 201610 yr Bloody hell good reference.. mod like infact. I'm going to ignore it though as it proves my points wrong.
May 4, 201610 yr . I'm going to ignore it though as it proves my points wrong. Now that's more mod like
May 4, 201610 yr Liverpool outspent them that season but they still spent fucking fortunes. Laughable about how shit they did after that season in the sun. Dingle cunts.

Probably best summary of it that Nowt else comes close and won't see owt like it again for a while I wouldn't have thought Just hope if we do its us
May 4, 201610 yr Liverpool outspent them that season but they still spent fucking fortunes. Laughable about how shit they did after that season in the sun. Dingle cunts. Have you read the article? We could have spent shitloads and have maybe won the league if Sam had got his way Given that we've never won the top flight I wouldn't mind us spending cash within our means at the time. The record books will tell you Wimbledon, portsmouth and Wigan have won the fa cup. That's the only stat that counts

The loss of your team, and how many years of having no team to support, might have taken the edge off a bit. That and the redundancies for the hundreds of people employed by the club.

That and the redundancies for the hundreds of people employed by the club. All sounds rather familiar. Question. Was our fun in the sun worth it for where we find ourselves now?
May 4, 201610 yr At what point did Blackburn, Wigan and Wimbledon go pop at the expense of what they achieved?
May 4, 201610 yr Pretty good correlation for most of the clubs here - obvious poor outliers being Liverpool, Chelsea, City and Filth ; and Leicester smash the trend
May 4, 201610 yr All sounds rather familiar. Question. Was our fun in the sun worth it for where we find ourselves now? Yep Can only enjoy the ride
May 4, 201610 yr Treading water for years, worthless. Them European trips make it all worthwhile IMO, can't take them away.
May 4, 201610 yr Question. Was our fun in the sun worth it for where we find ourselves now? It's done. Skriking that Gartside/Eddie didn't give the man that wouldnt pay half (or, any) Alan Smith's transfer fee is a bit much. BWFC might be in Division 3, but at least theyre in Division 3. and re: Leicester "oh, they spent fuck all" yeah, but i still remember they swizzed *whoever* out of money when gary lineker and his mates owned it. and got away with it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2002%E2%80%9303_Leicester_City_F.C._season/ Subliminal emphasis " Bolton Wanderers - 178million in debt - " type shit can fuck off , too. Excuse me if I've messed a few years up And therein lies a key problem. If someone started by being dragged to Wembley for Torquay then for the most part they've had an unbroken sequence of "onwards and upwards", Cup exploits, Premier league, Wembley/Cardiff, Europe etc until the last few seasons. All memorable - but nowt much to remember from the last few bar the collapse. If I survive another 20 years, the thing I'll probably remember most from them would be the scenes in the Brum fans as they escaped relegation at the last minute. Stagnation is the problem. Few other teams will sympathise as so many are in the same boat. But someone younger than me could have been going for well over a quarter of a century and this would be their first period of sustained stagnation, with nowt to remember from seasons(s). So they'd not be JCLs, and, unlike me and others here, wouldn't have known the highs and lows of the late 70s and early 80s. But they need some hope....
May 4, 201610 yr This argues otherwise.http://www.theguardian.com/football/when-saturday-comes-blog/2013/oct/23/blackburn-premier-league-title-earned-1995 I wouldn't mind seeing who else splashed more cash at that time. Blackburn broke the transfer record twice, these days that would be over £50m per time. The article compares to United, their spending set the foundation for best part of20 years domination.
May 4, 201610 yr Probably best summary of it that Nowt else comes close and won't see owt like it again for a while I wouldn't have thought Just hope if we do its us Well if we base it on this happening every 28 years or so, we are bang on track.

May 4, 201610 yr That was my first big day out bar a couple of games. Am still as passionate about Bolton as ever though. CoywmI'm exactly the same, think the home semi vs Blackpool was my first ever game, or at least the earliest memory I have of football. Even as a 5 year old I knew I'd seen one of the worst penalties ever taken by their mon

May 4, 201610 yr True super fan points must be the fans who did the 2nd away Italian game in the Anglo Italian cup, was it Ancona? Still not met anyone who went other than Ruth.I wasn't there so no points for me. About 400 of us in pisa but the ancona game was for European jcl's. ????????
May 4, 201610 yr How many points for running up a fucking huge phone bill ringing club call to see how we had gone on in the Isle of man tournament?
