Football League Trophy to include 16 category 1 academy/U21 sides this season. Hope all the FL clubs (including us) put out our U9's team and the final ends up being Stoke U21's vs Southampton U21's in front of 150 at Wembley.

I shall be the first to announce Shit fan status.   I'll be avoiding/boycotting/not justifying the expense etc, unless we are in the semi-finals locally, final obviously, or abusing the junior Munic

  • The start of them pushing for places in the league. The thing I don't understand is why do the big boys think we all agree their fringe players need more competitive football?   Stop fucking stock

  • Better to use it than boycott it. If our kids get a chance to play in a first team game it's got to be good for their development.   Let's try to keep a PL mentality and not one of a bitter lower le

If I'm reading that right, premier league clubs are in the competition but with their academy teams only.

Sounds like bollocks to me.

It's basically U21's but they've phrased it differently as City refer to theirs as the 'EDS' rather than U21's.

Read something about this a couple of weeks ago. They are looking at organizing it like this:

There would be sixteen groups of four clubs, with each group having a B Team included. Teams would play each other once on a pre-drawn home/away basis, with any matches involving the B Team that see them drawn as the 'home' team played at the Premier League club's main stadium. The winners of the group would follow through to the final sixteen of the competition. This would guarantee each team at least three matches in the competition.

They want all gate receipts from matches played on the Premier League grounds put into a central pool for later distribution to the 48 Football League clubs

What a load of bollocks.

Yup

This with bells on. Hopefully our participation is a only 1 year trial anyway.

I hope United U21 have to play that Beast Mode bloke.

Happy enough with that, as long as PP puts our kids in. And the invisible man and washing machine.

He's going to be tired leading the line banging em in in the league and then playing all the cup matches

He's going to be tired leading the line banging em in in the league and then playing all the cup matches

Not unless he has a massive change in attitude

Let's hope he plays for Parky, as the unprofessional twat didn't for Lennon

He's awful. His attitude stinks and ability is close to that. I hope to god he goes

I want us to win this fucker so it's a no from me.

Wemberlee!

Utter bollocks. Be no cunt at the prem grounds too. Fuck it off.

Makes an even more pointless competition. Didnt think that was possible

That is a load of shite. Always thought this competition was a chance for the lower league clubs to have a shot at a day at Wembley.

Why do the powers that be feel the need to fuck about with absolutely everything.

May I be the first to suggest boycotting it? As fans, I'm not trekking to Horwich midweek to watch us play Burnley reserves.

I wanted to give this competition a good go but not under these circumstances. It is basically the league cup 2nd chance for the big boys who fuck up their first attempt at blooding kids

Chelsea have just retained 82 players this summer

Is there anything they don't want the premier league teams to win. Under 18s in the FA trophy next. Big clubs retaining players without a chance of them playing is killing the game and this encourages it.. I give up on the people who run the FA
