  • Benedict Cumberbatch played Alan Turing in The Imitation Game, he's not even a proper bummer.

  • Not quite a show… but the missus has fallen asleep mid program; I do it all the time, just watch on… she doesn’t agree. She’s now fallen asleep 3 times during last 10 mins of episode of Outlaws.

It was really good, sorry should have let you know. 8 quid for something that was being charged 45 quid in person was decent value, and I got to eat my tea and be in my joggers.

Never been into Marvel stuff at all. But oddly really like the Wandavision that just started. Might not as it goes on but we'll see.

Didn't mind the mandlorian, but I think I'm just a bit bored by Star Wars at the moment.

I.am.looking forward to the new LotR TV show though whenever that is out. Just finished reading LotR for the umpteenth time. Love that book.

Thought that for a while. Think the only one that compares in recent years is the first season of Broadchurch.
Would love to know their comparative budgets

I thought the Dennis Nelson one was really good, and very well acted.

Line of Duty, Peaky Blinders, very hard to top

Anyway, just finished night stalker, one of the most prolific I've ever come across. Mad bastard

Be interesting to see what they put back in that the film left out, and vice versa

Things like Sharkey and Tom Bombadil for example

Amazon shows are usually very well-made so I'm hopeful it'll be a good 'un. I believe it's set thousands of years before the Hobbit so who knows what they'll put in

I do agree that Tom Bombadil did need leaving out of the film. Whilst he's very powerful and one of the oldest beings in Middle earth that section on the story on the Barrowdowns is a bit of a narrative cul-de-sac

Plus the singing, oh god, the singing.

If its the second age it'll hopefully be around the Kings of Numenour and the alliance of Men and Elves.

Ah right

So a spin off and nothing to do with Bilbo or Frodo

I did think it didn't need re-doing

But a spin off may as well be GOT or Vikings

Unless it leads up to when they first take Sauron on, but we already know how that ends, that'd do though

I doubt it, there will be some crossover in terms of lineage and the mention of the Valor and also some of the elf characters cross over from the second age to the third like Elron the half elf etc but it depends on what stories they want tell.

I would have thought it would lead up to the first defeat of Sauron but perhaps focus on the fall of the line of the King's of men? Dunno, be interesting to see though.

Anyone watched Bordertown on Netflix? If so, worth watching?

just on something called.... Travelers

its worth a watch

I got halfway through series 2 and stopped watching dramas in first lockdown

Spose there is plenty in the appendices to go at in terms of history, never actually read that book

So long as it's based on what Tolkien wrote and not just made up by a screen writer then it should be good

Cheers, think I might give it a miss.

Watched 'Back to Life' on iplayer, excellent mini-series in the mould of Fleabag.

Got 2 episodes of 'The Spy' left on Netflix, again very good mini-series and Sach B Cohen is excellent. True story as well.

Also watching a comedy from 2006 called 'Pulling', done 5 episides of 2 series, 3 single birds just being 3 single birds, stars Sharon Horgan who is pretty tidy. Probably wouldn't get commissioned these days.

....oh and Corrie is still top, Giiiiinnaaa

Dodgy ray & big Al in the soaps heating up

Yeah, loads in the books to go at.
