  • Benedict Cumberbatch played Alan Turing in The Imitation Game, he's not even a proper bummer.

  • Not quite a show… but the missus has fallen asleep mid program; I do it all the time, just watch on… she doesn’t agree. She’s now fallen asleep 3 times during last 10 mins of episode of Outlaws.

Watched the first one so far. Missus and I then discussed him. Both despised him from day one (or, at least, from the day we became aware of him). Styleless creep we always thought of as a cretinous court jester type and wondered how such a specimen could become a 'star'. Just wrote him off as one for the 'popsy wopsy' lame brains who got off on the charts rather than the stuff we were into. Tamla Motown's success let the hoi polloi moronic masses into our world to an extent but only for a while.

No satisfaction whatsoever in learning (when we all did) what a sordid bastard he actually was. Wish one of those youngsters had bit the cunts bell end off.

Coogan playing him well.

Watched the first Saville. Pretty sure the hospital is Le Mans crescent.

This thread is turning into watching TV with my mum. 'That's Bolton, that's Bolton, he's from Bolton, she grew up in Westhoughton, the director's nan used to serve on at the chippy on Harper's Lane, did you know the Key Grip married someone from Westhoughton....'

Arrggghhh!

Done a couple of episodes of Savile, might knock it on the head now I've seen what I need to see. Wanted to witness Coogans performance, I've done that, it's brilliant. It's just making me miserable otherwise.

I enjoyed it too was entertaining, did it not make the football fan side of you itch though?

So many inconsistencies regarding individual matches and seasons etc that the casual non football fan but  Beckham loving viewer wouldn't pick up on.

The forced redemption arc story about his season after WC98 as if it was coming up against Simeone again v Inter in about March 99 that suddenly woke him from his slumber. He was fucking ace all that season from game 1 😂

Surprised they didn't cover the metatarsal thing either that was huge. But otherwise I did enjoy hearing about behind the scenes stuff. And Victoria was interesting to listen to as well, wasn't expecting that.

Their house is incredible innit.

easy to forgot just how good and influential a player he was

i knew there was a turnaround and potential change of heart come the end of his time at madrid but didn't quite realiase just how ostracised and frozen out Capello made him, and the impact he had on them winning the title when he got back in the side (or just how much his team mates actually liked him)

or just how much of a pub league the MLS was before he was the first of the big names to join it, playing alongside painters and decorators

Snot In Crawley wouldn't even have been a twinkle in his unfortunate dads eye when Savile was starting to become known to the British public. Ignore.

I’m terrible for that. When I first left home I’d be pointing out Bolton Town Hall on the Coronation Street credits to all the southerners.

Nowadays, mainly consists of nodding knowingly to the tv and muttering ‘Le Mans Crescent again’, whilst the missus tells me to shut the fuck up.

Not just Bolton though. I watched Car Share and would point out it’s impossible to drive from White City to Broadheath in 30 seconds.

I’m sure she prefers it when I watch football on my own in the loft

Anyroad, there’s never been a chippy on Harpers Lane, you eejit. 😃

Drives me bonkers. If I hear again about that BBC news reporter Clive whatshisface went to school in Bolton...every time he pops up!

Might be just me but Boltonians seem to have a predilection for it. My Mrs doesnt leap out of her seat everytime somewhere in County Durham or Newcastle pops up on TV. She couldn't give a shit.

Sorry I meant Bennet's Lane Chippy! Quite right to pull me up on shoddy Chip shop knowledge.

Did he get any games under Capello for England? I remember him creeping up the cap count with sub appearances but not who was in charge. There was no mention of the end of his international career either.

I was same with the MLS thought it was more along the lines of what it is today. I used to watch highlights of it in 90s on NFL pitches in massive stadiums with JD Sports goal netting and daft kits, didn't realise how much that was still dragging on by the time he joined. Looked like he'd seen a ghost sitting on that bench at first 😂

Didnt he want to go to south Africa world cup but got injured and ended up on the coaching team or summut. Might have made it up.

the documentary had Capello basically getting him to go to AC Milan on loan to get some games if he wanted to get in the 2010 WC Squad

he played in some qualifiers, Capello gave him his 100th cap, but he got injured before the WC in 2010

Do they mention him showing his arse when he didn’t get knighted?

People in Hull wanted Ronnie Pickering to turn on the Christmas lights one year

To be fair, that should be applauded.

I like Hull, always have a good time there, in the pubs down Princess Avenue and Ferens Art Gallery is ace.

He came on in a friendly against Spain about 2009, pretty sure Capello was manager. This was peak Spain and they absolutely outclassed us, 2-0 massively flattered us.

The only bit of England quality the whole game was from Beckham, through ball for Carlton Cole, who missed.

The people of Hartlepool were upset that Stuart Drummond didn’t dress up as Hangusthe monkey for his first day of work as an…….. MP
