Restaurant Recommendations

I'm sure I've asked this before. Looking for somewhere on Saturday to take my Mrs as I was working on Valentine's day and we've got a rare night to ourselves.

Cherry Tree or Nick's would have been our choices but they're both full. Il Toro would have been our other but I've heard it's gone downhill.

Hopefully looking for somewhere with a bit of class where she can get her glad rags on - where we can have a drink before and after - and even better if it's got a few places to drink nearby.

Any suggestions from the WW dining club?

P.S. Not Heathcoates :-)

Might have covered up the restaurant name on the menu. And who knows how many places sell a product called a Big Mac?!

Why would you want to appeal to them 2 bob millionaires

Your former next door neighbour has moved over that way having left the matrimonial home. He’ll be in his element in Fannies.

Looking forward to summer for a quiet pint in the evening sun. Or afternoon.

Play golf there sometimes and it’s now a very pleasant place for a post round pint.

Just had lunch at Fanny’s, pretty good. Good effort for Buffalo Chicken Wings.

Alan Thompson was in, does he live around here?

He used to live in Lickle Lever back in the day. No idea where now though.

Lymm

Took the family out for a few beers round Manchester this week.

Eat in Sangam (Indian) on Portland Street.

It was absolutely excellent.

Back to King St Kitchen, new menu.

Piggy Salad; just a brilliant and delicious dish. I’m going back just for that.

Not Whalley and not a restaurant but went up to Clitheroe last Saturday and stopped off at Marks Artisan Bakery. (It’s on Whalley Rd.) He had a picture of the Twisted Wheel in the shop so we got talking. Seems he played with the Kinks there back in the day. Anyway, bloody excellent pies. Got the usual sausages from Cowmans and a few delicacies from Holmes Mill.

It really is. One of the best meals I've ever had. Food is stunning, drinks are great and the service is really friendly and informal. The cheeseboard is something else too.

Went today, didn’t go as far as the cheese, but up there in top few meals we’ve had, brilliant food. Nice coffee.

Went in on Sunday. They make you sign up as a social member. It’s free, but seems a bit daft.

still, a cosy little place and the food is decent.

“It’s only the Blundell”

Well, it was very nice, decent food and a free bottle for my birthday.

Went for Christmas Day the other year and was pretty disappointing. Are they still a Vintage Inn? We’re going to the Woodside at Ellenbrook on Sunday which is also a Vintage Inn and I’ve got high hopes on the roast.

You went to a chain pub on Christmas day and expected anything less?

We’d been a good half a dozen times previously and it had been really good but they dropped the ball a bit that day. Not sure I’m it’s necessarily a chain pub to the true letter as such.

Furry muff.

Mates of mine go for a curry every Christmas day and love it. Have to say I would go for that but the missus won't have any of it.

We've been for curries a few times on Xmas Day.

I'm well up for pub on Christmas Day this year

I can't cook and I can't bear the other half moaning about having doing all the cooking

So I'll buy her Christmas dinner as her main present

We’d gone for a curry the year prior to Blundell. Been for a curry every year since.

Here’s the thing with going out for Christmas Day, in order for it to happen, someone needs to work when they should be at home with their family.

Agreed. A curry would be a good option.

It’s a Chef and Brewer, which I think is Greene King.

Went to the Yew Tree Inn (Heath Charnock) the other week. Best pork belly I've ever had. Shame it wasn't busy.

Exactly. Same at Easter.
