Restaurant Recommendations

I'm sure I've asked this before. Looking for somewhere on Saturday to take my Mrs as I was working on Valentine's day and we've got a rare night to ourselves.

Cherry Tree or Nick's would have been our choices but they're both full. Il Toro would have been our other but I've heard it's gone downhill.

Hopefully looking for somewhere with a bit of class where she can get her glad rags on - where we can have a drink before and after - and even better if it's got a few places to drink nearby.

Any suggestions from the WW dining club?

P.S. Not Heathcoates :-)

Might have covered up the restaurant name on the menu. And who knows how many places sell a product called a Big Mac?!

Bit further out but the Yew Tree at Anglezarke is decent.

Lucianos at the millstone between Horwich and Adlington is excellent.

It had dipped in quality but they're back on song.

Manchester?

I fancy Manchester but she wants to stay a little bit closer to home.

Luciano's and the Yew Tree are good shouts. I'll have a look! Thanks :-)

Buy a great red... Amarone  and a decent white... a good Sancere well chilled. Then go to the most best known and reputable butchers and buy a filet for her and a sirloin for you. cook a bit of pasta and make up either a jar, or your own mushroom sauce and I promise your balls will be wet for a few hours. oh and candles of course!

Worked for me this last 20 years!

Whoah - this isn't the EU thread :-)

There is absolutely no chance of this happening as it's the first chance we've had to go out as a couple in about a hundred years.

I intend to develop gout.

Don't.

Really.

Another vote here for Yew Tree or Lucianos

Really? I find the food there quite average.

Shame you can't get in the Cherry Tree, Kent, I love it there.

Yeah - I think word has got around now. Tried to book a table on Tuesday for Saturday night and they were full. Cracking little place.....

They won an award last week too which has probably made them even busier. I usually nip in and ask Tom really nicely for a table, he rolls his eyes and then gives in :) Try the cocktails next time, they make a great pornstar martini

We might go in for a drink after. Is that cocktail bar above Il Toro any good?

It was on the occasion that pre-meal cocktails were charged to your table before being sat down, then they moved you to a different one, and didn't tell upstairs.

I think they've closed that loophole now though.

We weren't overly impressed when we went. It's probably ok if you're having a drink before or after your meal though.

If you're going to Lucianos, they have a bar area with a pianist, which is nice.

Il toro is gash

Went a few weeks ago and it continues to disappoint

Which is a shame

This Luciano's - are we talking about that tiny place up at Middlebrook?
