Restaurant Recommendations

I'm sure I've asked this before. Looking for somewhere on Saturday to take my Mrs as I was working on Valentine's day and we've got a rare night to ourselves.

Cherry Tree or Nick's would have been our choices but they're both full. Il Toro would have been our other but I've heard it's gone downhill.

Hopefully looking for somewhere with a bit of class where she can get her glad rags on - where we can have a drink before and after - and even better if it's got a few places to drink nearby.

Any suggestions from the WW dining club?

P.S. Not Heathcoates :-)

Might have covered up the restaurant name on the menu. And who knows how many places sell a product called a Big Mac?!

Distinct lack of pubs around RAH.

The Queen's Arms is very close and decent.  We went in after a Proms concert and half the orchestra turned up.  Downside was it was £8.50 a pint, but so were most of the pubs around there.

Which concert?

I think we went there, but, remarkably, there was no beer!

Aren't there a few around South Kensington station?

Sure I went in one there

Doubt embassies have public bars!

Went for a kebab at Santinis takeaway on Tong Moor Rd last night. £13.75 for a mixed kebab! Pricey but it was bang on with plenty of meat.

Has anyone tried the new one on the a6 in Westhoughton?  Ewe I think it’s called.

Yes see top of the Page

Best I’ve had in London?

Amaya, Mayfair. But lots of other great. Went to Angela Hartnett’s place in summer.

Had a look at the place in The Shard a while ago. As it happens, we’d booked to go to the observation deck and we’re passing the time until our allotted time.

The Chinese restaurant was hellishly expensive but if you took off the price we’d paid for the viewing deck, not too bad.

Actually, having just had a look at the A la Carte menu, fuck that!

Are Chinese restaurants actually a thing?

I've only ever done takeaways or buffets, and buffets don't count.

I know there is apparently abacus on middlebrook but I just expect that to be on a par with nandos and that it doesn't exist and no one has ever been.

You can count on Abacus to get it right.

On upper brook Street behind the uni above a Chinese supermarket

Only started going because the other half did

Prior to that my general rule was Chinese to take away and Indian to eat in, now it's the other way round

You might as well put Chinese food straight in the fucking bin to save the effort of eating it and shitting it back out.

I wouldn't feed it to a starving dog.

The best Chinese food I’ve eaten was in that there London’s Chinatown from a bloke stood under a gazebo with the biggest wok in the world.

Personally I prefer Gaucho, but that’s because I have a fond spot for Argentina. Hawksmoor is good though.

Yes, we loved Argentina, every night we spent a bit more on wine and it was well spent. We seem to be on a mission to try out as many places as possible, might try Gaucho again; cheers.
