Not sure how they can force a referendum, the longer it takes the less the clamour to leave. That’s my view, might be talking out of my backside.

It’s already being portrayed as taken out of the EU against the will Of Scotland and then if he refuses a ref then they will be being held in again against their will. I know some very educated and well to do people that have lost all sight of reality and reason and are foaming at the mouth. Billboards with slogans, paid for by the government, what England wants Scotland gets.

Parallels to the trade deal negotiations. Hold his nerve, keep saying no then see where the economy/country is at the next election, or offer up extra finance/investment etc to weaken voters' resolve.

Instinct says that covid and the recovery is paramount now- get vaccinating and help businesses back on track and things will get rosier.

Grant it. It’s the only way it stops it. By doing so the remain campaign (for want of a better term) can point to that as an indicator that the people are being listened to.

the key is in the timing of such a referendum though. Agree it next year for 2023. Let things settle down post brexit. Maybe it can be stopped then with a remain vote.

Think the government have to dictate the timing on the referendum, now is not that time for a referendum.
