Thought of the day. Ignore the Telegraph but read Wikipedia.

Thanks Youri.😊

We're not writing academic pieces here.

If a Wiki article claims 'Sir' Charles has opined some loony opinion there will be references. A good accurate article will always be referenced. And there's an army of pedants out there who edit at the drop of a hat - try and get an article put on. It's not easy.

Only people of a certain age write off Wikipedia as being full of unsubstantiated bollocks.

One could, for example, suggest Billy Crellin has been shortlisted for The Ballon D'or on his entry sure - it'd probably be up there about ten minutes.

Show me owt libellous on 'Sir' Charles' entry?

Who was that women Telegraph windbag posted on here last week? A bankrupt I believe - financially and morally both. A more palatable Katie Hopkins - show me owt on her entry that could see Jimbo Wales up before the beak for libel.

The Telegraph was ejaculating so hard over the deal last week that the entire staff must be blind and covered in an inch thick layer of goo.

Now, the EU isn’t worth even being the jizzmop to clean it all up.

As baffled as its readership.

Bolty - my condolences. (Think I’m on ignore.)

Been a tough year and losing someone so close just makes things unbelievably shit.

Hope you and the family are ok 👍

I should have got further down the thread before the whimsical post above.

As always on WWays, the vast majority are sound when push comes to shove so thank you to all the well wishers. My old man was a bit of a character as a few on here know, one on here has told me how much he enjoyed my old mans radio segments with Jeremy Vine.

The most frustrating thing is Covid 19 preventing funeral attendance. Streamed service just isn't the same. Hopefully crawshawbooth can give (or already has) his father a fitting send off.

Cheers all.

Only just picked up on this. Sorry to hear mate. Condolences

Ditto, on ignore, but sorry to hear that.

Just so he sees it. Sure will be taken well in the spirit intended.

Paul. You have established without a shadow of a doubt that the Telegraph are happy with the deal. I am not sure how many of them will have read the full thing.
I posted the other day that the things that have picked out as issues, fishing and seed potatoes, should never have been deal breakers and if they are the main issues let’s crack on.
I am surprised , genuinely, if we have such a great deal that the EU ambassadors from the member nations are not more annoyed. By the same logic I take comfort from the lack of issues on our side , their acceptance of the deal worries me that are missing something. If as a result of this we are going to be as well off as the Telegraph articles imply surely the EU would be annoyed at losing out ?
Gove is warning about bumps in the road , so what are these? When will they occur and what can we do to avoid them ? Importers and exporters being told about new requirements, are they now fully defined as the blokes on the news seem to be still waiting. What financial help is available to companies as a result of the above ?
The deal seems like a massive step in the right direction, compared to No Deal. But personally I am yet to be convinced that brighter future is there.  The trade deals we have done all became continuity deals when it suited last week, apart from the Japs. So when do we start seeing the benefits and what is this mechanism that is being put in place to monitor the deal.
Plus of course financial services.

As I understand we have basically left NI in Europe is that right ?

I wish people would stop using The Telegraph as an impartial source.

It's tantamount to Rudy using quotes and images from 'Big Juggs Monthly' to back up his manifesto, or me using The Morning Star.

There was even a bloated opinion piece from professional windbag Lord Edgelord 'Sir' Charles Moore t'other week.

For the unitiated read up his Wikipedia entry - it's like Lord Snooty, David Icke and Katie Hopkins had an unprotected threeway and he was the product of this unholy union, he's a loon.

Keep the Red Flag flying.

Pass the Sancerre etc.

I also wish they'd realise that the internet is made up of these wonderful things called links. He'll be photocopying and posting articles out next.

It’s behind a paywall, but he thinks we’re desperate to read the views of people who write for the telegraph.

Id simply point everyone to the video he posted of a man singing about fucking the EU and conclude that he’s a complete fruitcake.

Would love a Friday night at your place watching HOC debates. Beers are on me 🍻

I've paid plenty of attention to what's coming out of HOC and the government on this. It's far short of the green revolution that we need across all sectors.

Course more committments have been made. It's a climate emergency. They're mostly promises and targets though mate. Which brings me to this - https://unearthed.greenpeace.org/2019/11/12/environmental-targets-2020-uk/

An excellent piece of journalism highlighting all the government promises and climate targets that have failed to materialise. You may think that this latest set of promises is different, fair enough. I disagree. Even coming to the opinion that these decisions aren't safe in the hand of politicians with short term goals.

There was pros and cons of being in the EU in regards to the environment. Only time will tell if things improve or not. Regardless, we're getting side tracked. My point was that Boris is a buffoon full to the brim with shite. Sorry if that point bores you.

They're not promises. Fuelled cars have been banned from a given date. That's an act pure and simple.

As is the continuing expansion of offshore wind.

Greenpeace will always say its not enough: and perhaps they're correct. However such criticism is easy, when you're not charged with balancing economy.

There have been a number of criticism that Britain's not doing enough, however I choose to see what is happening in reality and look at how that compares with what's gone on before.

A positive wind of change, and that is illustrated by the new bunch of younger mps recently elected, who clearly have more of a grasp of the issues and are clearly helping to drive policy.

I'm quite convinced that this next generation of parliamentarians, irrespective of party, are more than happy to push for change, whilst taking industry with them.

Rather than mocking me for listening to them, perhaps watch yourself (they don't occur on Friday nights). Posting the odd link from an environmental campaign group doesn't show the full picture nor the direction of travel.

In his defence The Telegraph is behind a paywall bizarrely, then again most supermarkets have manure for sale on pallets outside come Spring.

As (Zico? Carlos?) pointed out cut and paste into 'memo', 'notepad' or even as a (unsent) text message then recut and paste on here - hey presto all formatting removed, literally thirty seconds of a job...

That bloke with the beard who'd raided the dressing up hamper - he should definitely get the hook, come on you coppers, get his devices forensically analysed. You will find something.

Anybody see that clip on Sky News of the bloke who exports 100% of his eels to the EU, but voted for Brexit and is now worried that his business is going to fail? Jesus Christ 🤦‍♂️

On "conservativewoman.co.uk", John Ashworth - a pro-Brexit fisherman - writes:

Quote

Having spent most of Saturday and yesterday going through the fisheries section of the trade agreement, it didn’t take me long to realise I was reading the most humiliating document ever: very little about sovereignty, but a merger, where the leading player is the EU.
.......

I keep hoping I will wake up from a bad dream and find that the contents are not true. Alas, they are: so bad that there is very little gain in some places, in others none. One would think the document is a preparation to rejoin the EU; it has certainly handed a gift to the SNP in their quest for independence. One could even say we would be better off staying in.
