Deal approved as expected. The others got airtime

Listened to much of it.

Cat Smith (Lancaster) offered the expected criticism, but nevertheless said she would vote for it. Somewhat surprisingly, she also criticised those voting no for making party political points. This was clearly aimed at the Snide Noggin Party, however a few of her own (including Abbott) have also refused to back it.

Clearly some differences of opinion with Labour's ranks which could come to the fore at the next election. They can't afford to appear still split on the subject after all this time.

Th'undemocrats continued down their worm hole.

Just need government to introduce new legislation to ban any mp who isn't prepared to work in the best interests of the UK from the hoc. That would be wonderful!

For balance well done Barry Sheerman. Expressed his view that it was a better deal than he expected. As many did, he acknowledged it wasn't complete but was a great platform to move on from

You'd do well stopping the continued insults.

Fwiw, at least sinn fein had the decency to stay away.

You think elected MP's should be banned from the Houses of Commons for not toeing the Governing Party's Line. That's not an insult. I'm just repeating your own words back to you.

Think I saw someone say it would be right to lock this thread when Big Ben chimes at 11pm tomorrow.

I called it a day posting on here last Jan/Feb and stayed off for months. This is a good time to knock it on the head for keeps and stick to the Wanderers talk.

I know plenty of remainers who have seen that Project Fear was absolute nonsense even though if there was a referendum tomorrow they might still on balance plump for remain. From the solid common sense folk there's now a recognition that leave voters weren't rabid nationalist swivel eyed loons, racists and thickos after all.

There remains a minority of hardcore bitter remoaners (and they deserve that phrase as opposed to remainers) who are as blinkered as hell.

Enjoyed debating with folk like Sweep, Ani, Kent White and a few others. Even Spider most of the time.

There are three or four others  (past and present) who qualify as the Boltonian answers to twats like Adonis, the Illiberal Undemocrats and John Bercow. They'll still be campaigning for a people's vote, ranting about the bus and worshipping at the sacrosanct alter of the EU and its bureaucracy long after the word Brexit has faded. They will rank in my affections alongside luminaries such as Barry Knight, Mike Riley and John Aldridge.

We can debate all day but one thing is for sure, in the end it was democracy that won. Thank goodness it did. For a time it looked like it wouldn't.

Goodnight Vienna.

Ta-ra chuck!

(P.S I don't know if you're aware, but there is another section for pure Wanderers talk. Hopefully you'll be more comfortable there.)

Having been a fan since 1975 I  post there quite frequently, including links to footage of games from the 80s that I post on You Tube. If you could remove your head from your arse for long enough you might observe these things ... instead of resorting to your old standby of monotonously pedestrian sarcasm.

I know Paul. I was making a glib aside that your request for this thread to be shut down so you can concentrate on the Wanderers is a bit silly.

You must be an even older bugger than me and remember Jimmy Armfield in charge!

1971 first game. Eddie Hopkinson testimonial.

I remember being there when Armfield was manager rather than remembering him , if that makes sense !!

Yep. I remember 77/8 very well. But I can only remember "being there" before that. With my Dad.... unbelievably on the Lever End! Different ideas on parenting in them days.

Still bugs me that I cant remember what my first game was.

1975 ish.  I mithered my dad for ages and he took me to a couple of reserve games first, probably to see if I'd behave.  I only know Hugh Curran was playing, he scored and we won.

He's before my time. I can just about remember Peter Thompson.

Hugh Curran’s son was at Church Road school for a short while.

Don’t know what my first game was I thought it was towards the end if 73 season and seem to remember a sheff Wednesday game, however I can remember my first away game which was on the travel club in 74/75 season and was Fulham away, 10 years old without parent or adult supervision, unbelievable that wouldn’t happen today.

My dad bought me a season ticket for the 57/58 season so I probably went to a few games the season before but not a clue who we played.
