It’s not a fact though. The CEGB was sold off to 4 companies, National Grid plc was one of them. National Grid didn’t exist so it couldn’t be ‘sold off’

People are getting mixed up with the National grid which is the network for electric power transmission through the U.K. it is not National Grid plc.

Here’s another energy company that also uses the National Grid. A French owned company.
