And you think that none of the profits will end up back in Australia?

Sorry, you’re one of the brighter buttons on here but surely even you can see that selling off our core energy services to foreign investors isn’t entirely for the UK’s benefit?

Dont turn into Mounts, he’s a lost cause.

You’re about 32 years late with that statement.

Look who owns the companies that actually produce power that we use.

Also, as National Grid plc is a privately owned company, have a look at the shareholders (before the 60% sell off) You’ll end up down a rabbit hole of pension funds and large corporations with no doubt some Russian investors.

So are these Australians only investing here because they like us?

Look, I've no issue with investment, but this is our core energy provider we're talking about.

They are all companies that have shareholders who expect big dividends.

I can't even be arsed explaining this because you already know what I'm getting at.

Enjoy your next bill

The govt should be looking to bring this back into UK hands, instead they are allowing core services to be controlled by companies abroad.

We ain't gonna agree.

It's the same with the railways etc.. You know from living in the Czech Republic that european services absolutely shit on ours.

I think he's hoping the shock of this to the world gas and oil prices will bring down western sanctions, especially in europe. If so, I think he has miscalculated yet again.

Think he’s just attempting to prop up the rouble.

I don’t disagree but when you look at the dependence on Russian gas by Europe, it puts it into perspective. We can always open up the coal mines again but…. We’ll that’s for another day/thread.

The UK labour market is strong - job vacancies hit a record high in October last year - and unemployment has continued to fall, which may have helped the housing market, he said.

Great news, seems we’re doing ok outside of the EU. Who’d have thought it.

Job vacancies at an all time is high is obviously a good thing, unless you can't fill them of course, and then it's not so good, but hopefully we can continue creating jobs

Doing well outside the EU is also a good thing - but would we be doing better if we'd remained in? Exports Drop 14%

At this stage, I don't really pay a great deal of attention to what either side reports. As far as I can see, it's a bit shit, but not as shit as some like to make out, it's also not as brilliant as maybe you think it currently is.

Trade is still settling down from Brexit and change was always going to happen add in the pandemic and it’s only to be expected.

Great news that unemployment is down, job vacancies up, house prices rising, that’s despite increased interest rates, still negative interest rates in the EU.

Yes there are problems but feel we are heading in the right direction.

GB News and Mr Sunak, who I know are typical left wing snowflakes are picking up a different vibe.

The Leave campaign via the line of JRM was clear there would be a trade impact, it is good they seem to be being proved right.

Everybody except that massive dick David Davis knew there would be several years of impact - he seemed to think we'd see an immediate upturn, the fucking nob.....sadly some believed him

There was always going to be a reduction in trade with the EU the severity was always governed by what deal we actually agreed to, in the end we went with a hard Brexit.

It was well documented prior to the vote that a hard Brexit would give us the biggest hit, however I think it was essential we uncoupled ourselves lock stock and barrel, a half in half out situation was less desirable for me even though the hit to trade might have been less in the short term.

Mounts with his posh brainwasher/groomer except the monocled one has his hand uo his arse - not vice-versa.

Planet Mounts is fantastic. Meanwhile this government is allowing a large section of society to sink into the mire due to the cost of living crisis. They could have done much more in the Spring statement but instead they are going to let people choose between eating or heating.

I agree… I’m thinking that they’ll have to do more and believe they will. Let’s see.
