With my winklepickers I'd not have much turning room in that kitchen.

Bbc and the FT portraying things from a particular view point. Who'd have thought.

The obr, with its notorious inaccuracies producing an estimate report that is selectively picked from.

Strange that there is no mention of April's ONS facts with exports to the EU at their highest ever level. Weird one.

Naturally a bit of a drop off since as inflationary pressures have increased, but far from the picture painted.

These pressures felt the world over and we know why although the truth doesn't fit the narrative of course.

More worrying is that the UK currently has 6 functioning nuclear power plants - owned and operated by the French state aka Electricite de France aka EDF. There were 7 last year until EDF decided to decommission Hinkley Point B "for safety reasons". All the UKs power plants are reaching end of life.

And our government has just given EDF the contract for Sizewell C, and they're favourites to get Hinkley C plus the potential joint venture with CGN (Chinese) for Bradwell B.

Then there's the energy providers:

Eon (German)

N Power (also German)

Scottish Power (Spanish)

etc etc

As for the train operators :

Arriva Wales, Chiltern Railways, Cross Country, Grand Central and Northern Rail - all German owned

Thameslink, Southern, South Eastern, Great Northern and Gatwick Express - all French owned

Greater Anglia, Stansted Express and Scotrail - all Dutch owned

West Midland Rail and London Rail are owned by a Dutch / Japanese JV

The irony is that whilst Thatcher went all in on selling off or franchising our national assets to private companies including our oil and gas, the foreign companies that operate and profit from them are mainly nationalised in their countries of origin e.g. EDF that owns and operates our nuclear plants is 83% owned by the French State - which is why the French Government faced with the recent massive hike in fuel prices were able to cap household fuel cost rises at 4% - and which as a result has kept inflation in France at a much lower level than we are experiencing in the UK - and making French businesses far more competitive than ours.

Nobody cares.

Apparently some people won, whatever that means.

The rest of us just carry on working and being nice to people.

But, we will be vociferous in the shit we've been landed in. Although we do have the best tunes...

Yeah but we beat the zulus with only 8 men and some knuckledusters.

We once owned half the world and we’re the best around at remembering it all really well.

Its ok for forriners to own all our utilities, but even a single one of them sets foot on our beaches (which we nearly fought ze Germans on) then all hell breaks loose.

We control our own destiny so long as we ask Le président first.

Sizewell C is madness. Rolls Royce can easily adapt the power plants used in Nuclear subs to be used for commercial power and tagged onto grid near existing gas power sites.

Just needs you soft bar stewards being prepared to have one on your doorstep.

It’s a disgraceful stain that we have allowed this to happen, hopefully the Labour Party can reverse the balance and bring at least some of this back into UK and at least part UK government ownership. Lastly the French have subsidised energy costs to help business and domestic users but this has come at a great cost and will have to be paid back by French tax payers who already pay higher taxes than UK tax payers.

Yep. Fucked up.

As an aside subsidise foreign nationally owned railway fares by paying sky high fares for frankly shit services.

Then look at the Post Office sell off. Bent as fuck.

I have to wholeheartedly agree, let’s hope that the Labour Party make a start and to attempt to correct and rebalance the ownership of these assets, I’ve no issue even if they are part state part privately owned. This Tory government are on borrowed time and deserve a lengthy spell on the sidelines… oh and a few court cases to uncover any corrupt behaviour while in power also would not go amiss.

Yeah it totally is a mess.

However, in a completely selfish way Thameslink is bloody fantastic and I can get a train every 15 minutes from our house in Zone 4, wizz around London all day to whatever zone and never pay more than a 11 quid. Fab.

Can anyone explain how the Royal Mail have 100,000 employees? For what? I've not posted anything since before the pandemic. All they deliver here is shit leaflets. By the sounds of it, most are on over £50k.

Very few Royal Mail employees will be anywhere near 50k. Where do you get "most" from?

Tenuous link, your not FPBE nob are you? Labour shouldn’t have run on reversing it, against the red wall wishes, might have stood a chance.
