It just seems no one is actually reading the article before going off on one

"The restructuring of its non-engineering workforce has been anticipated for months, and will be among the most significant steps taken so far by Tufan Erginbilgic, who took over as Rolls-Royce's chief executive at the start of the year.

His move to cut costs and reduce duplication across the company's operations will please City analysts and investors who believe there is significant scope to improve its efficiency.

Since his appointment, Mr Erginbilgic has described the company as "a burning platform" and said one of its main subsidiaries had been "grossly mismanaged", underlining his reputation as a plain-speaking executive."

Precisely.

Watching a CPD video. Seen it before.

But every day is a school day.

Redundancy = good news.

I always thought otherwise. I know the truth now 🥰

I might lay a few lads in the factory off later. The ones with the most responsibilities. Early Xmas present.

Here you go, you mentioned BAE. Hope you now feel better.

I’ve experienced redundancy twice, did not get much of a payout, but it’s not the end of the world. I’m sure RR redundancy package will be enhanced, they’ll be skilled workers and hopefully in demand, there are plenty of good jobs out there, so I’m not sure what the deary me is all about.

I'm not sure it's the skilled workers under threat, it'll be their heavily bloated admin departments. And about time too, trying to do anything with RR is always made difficult by their operational slowness. Hopefully, they'll become a bit leaner and easier to deal with.

Sad for those losing their jobs, but we're going to see a hell of a lot more folk losing their jobs over the next 6-9 months

Have you not heard? It's not sad, it's the glorious sunlit uplands of opportunity is that.

It's byelection day!

Looks like thee Conservatives will hold onto Mid-Beds despite Dorries and with a massively reduced majority, as the lab/lib vote splits it to allow them to hold. Shame - could have done with a bit more co-ordination, but the Lib Dems want to increase their vote share there - which they certainly will do by a huge degree, but Labour starting at a better base would have been a surer bet to take the seat. If the Conservatives do lose the seat, that's going to be a huge body blow - it'll be the biggest loss ever really in terms of swing.

For Tamworth, Labour look like they could take it but it'll take a huge swing as the Conservatives have a majority of 20k - if they lose there will be some very squeaky bums on the backbenches. The Conservative candidate didn't do himself any favours with a FB past about telling families to fuck off if they struggle to feed their families but pay a mobile bill which he's had to spend most of the time non-apologising for across the campaign.
