What an load of absolute bollocks, this is a football fans forum where people give their opinions on all topics, that is exactly what they are, opinions, my opinions, I do not want or expect anyone to agree if they do not want to, where do I claim to  to know the personal circumstances of people I've never met, I gave my opinion, nothing more nothing less

You said "[Just Stop Oil protestors] are usually middle class up their own arse wankers and wouldn't want any type of peasantry (wherever from) living next door to their mansions"

I asked how you knew that, and you said "Because I'm 65". That's all. Nothing to get worked up about.

Holy hell - just woken up to see Labour have taken Mid Beds. This is absolutely historic in terms of swing.

This is the first time that I really feel its going to be a complete wipeout at the GE for the Conservatives - overturning that sort of majority with the Liberals not ceding an inch as well hasn't been seen in decades. And also selfishly as a Labour member nice to do one over the Liberals as well.

Anyway, if this continues we don't need a GE, we'll have a change of government through a by-elections alone 😁

Brilliant news.

I’m quietly hoping that there ridiculous change of policy on the climate has something to do with it all as well.

Living in the Beds, from what I was seeing, I agreed with you yesterday, that the Lib Dems and Labour would cut each others throats, and allow the Conservative Party to retain the seat. Dorries, really has fucked it up for them, as she is pretty much despised it seems.

Turning such a massive majority, in such a "blue" area is huge - and does, as you say, point towards an utter wipeout at the next GE.

There's still a year to go though, so of course anything could happen - but it's for the Labour Party to lose now.

Remember when the last GE returned a +80 seat majority to the Conservatives, there was talk of them being in charge for at least 2 more terms. It's pretty impressive how a party can actually (if it happens) lose such a massive majority in such a short space of time

You claim it's brilliant news, but just imagine what damage the dirty reds could do to this decade of unbridled economic growth, social cohesion and improvements in public services.

There's a massive danger that they could mess up all of this sterling work by being a bit socialisty and all that.

Haha

You got a graph for that?

Of course - I'm not counting any chickens and i'm certain it won't be a victory by quite this margin - this was 50-odd on tiory safe seats - it'd mean the Tories would have something like 70 MPs on that trend which won't happen. It was a very low turnout so there will have been a lot of stay at home Conservatives who will vote in the GE that were pissed off with Dorries, the candidate was an utter turnip and it being a byelection had a lot more focus on his 'fuck off' facebook post than he would have had normally (although his interviews and him storming off the stage at the end show what an utter dick he actually is - his face at the end was something out of a film where the bad guy finally is faced with his downfall)

Although its difficult at this stage to see anything but a humiliation on the cards for the Conservatives. which after their tenure is not short of what they deserve. I can't believe the Covid enquiry is going so much under the radar, understandable because of the middle east - but it was the fourth on the 10 O'Clock news last night, and was given less time than the Rugby World Cup (which seems to have been going on for most of my lifetime)

Just Boby's regression to the mean graph 😁

😊 Lots of stats. to provide a graph, small turnouts and all that. I’ll leave it to the expert, John Curtice.

“We certainly cannot presume that the Conservatives would do so badly as they did on Thursday if there were a general election anytime soon.”

From the BBC website.

Have you verified that ?

I just hope the tories readjust and instead of chasing the few reform/heritage/ukip votes realise that a more moderate approach is required. I don't think that is going to be the case though and it is going to be interesting what the balance of power in the party is if they do indeed face "armageddon" at the next GE.

They don’t need to do that badly and they will still get their arses kicked. It’s lovely

Someone much smarter than me will have to explain why a Tory would sit a home and not vote, when he could go and vote.

Why risk having a filthy red in charge of your constituency when all it would take was a quick stroll to the polling booth.

I find this an extremely strange argument.

“Bolton lost because I didn’t go and call Evatt a cunt for an hour and a half. Hooray. Err. No. Boooo. Errr no wait. Erm”
