Enquiry/Inquiry. Little difference, little evidence also. Doesn’t stop social media bollocks being spread.

Little evidence? We will have to agree to disagree on that one.

Even the ongoing enquiry with one hand tied behind its back due to 'lost phones' is uncovering shithouses already.

Unless you have info that I and the rest of the world has, what is the evidence?

Fine.

The point is that debt is a world thing and we established a few days ago that we’re all ok with it.

So what’s a few billion more to make lots of lovely hospitals?

Eh? I was talking about the PPE  inquiry and I wasn’t replying to you. 🤷‍♂️

Anyway, the debt situation is something else. Do you know that Japan has the highest debt in the G7?
263% of it’s GDP. It also has the lowest inflation rate. What do you make of that?

How much extra tax are you happy paying?

None

The UK need only borrow more and add to the debt pile.

We are ok with it now. 😊

What amount of debt is acceptable?
Based on your bar charts.

Japan is the target.

so we have enough of a buffer for about 350 hospitals

Can’t afford them now. We are in debt. Promised before something happened. What was that?

Do you honestly think, without Covid or the Ukraine war, we would have 40 new hospitals being built?

We're not Japan, so it doesn't really matter does it?

Why do people always want to compare or country to others?

An extra 5p in the pound for me, dunno about others

I am happy to go for higher paid who take all through means other than paye.

How can it be right that someone earning 100k paye has a higher tax burden than someone earning 10 times that through various schemes? If you want evidence see our PM.

Where have you been for the last 6 years? We have consistently been compared with the EU and the rest of the world because of Brexit and the government so called ‘crashing the economy’ . Labour never stop banging on about it.

Indeed, a proper "sliding scale" and closure of the tax dodging loop holes by large corporations would be a start.

Also a huge clampdown on the "cash in hand" scrotey businesses which we all know are rife

I don't disagree with you, but it'd be nice if we moved on. Of course we won't.

Like you, I'd never normally want a Labour government, sadly, I just feel we need a change. I'm at the point where I don't think it can get any worse. I do wish I was like you, and thought it was all OK, and was happy enough to leave this lot running the gig for a further four or five years

I agree with that but scrotey business and cash in hand deals are small time and folk think it is a major issue, it really isn't. The numbers are tiny compared to city tax avoidance.

Of course it's only small fry, but it still needs clamping down on. Large scale corporate tax dodging/avoiding is the real issue. We let them get away with it, and always will, because we don't want them to leave the UK

As an aside, how pleased must the Government be that it's kicked off Israel/Gaza, because it has deflected from the recent news that we've almost run out of prison places.......

If we taxed them properly many would leave but also many wouldn't because most European countries already do so. It is a fallacy.

I don't think anyone has compared us to Japan, or should have anyway. It has been on its own crazy fiscal cycle since Hiroshima.

We are constantly being compared to other G7 countries. Japan is one of them. I used them as an example as they have the greatest debt in the G7.
What’s more important is a countries ability to pay their debt and the cost.
