But neither does agreeing with Farage just to keep hold of the narrative. Look at the lib demo- they've got more MPs than they have had in 20 years but they still cant get a look in. Its statement before policy now. I fear that Starmer cant/won't grasp this. Im not talking about a drill down to the bottom but I expect Starmer to call out this flag waving for what it is - isolationist rather than patriotic. There is a stand to be made which many would get behind, but no one is making it. Quote

Its not for going on there as the viewers number as small but the cut through from social that programmes like this do after is still huge. As we see on here. I worry they think a tweet and a Today programme interview works. Quote

Popular Post Spider Posted September 3, 2025 Popular Post Posted September 3, 2025 (edited) Farage has somehow managed to make an even bigger prick of himself than ever. Some going that. Parliament has been in recess for weeks yet he’s waited for it to sit again before swanning off to America, to then get a total fucking walloping off people who have him sussed. Beautiful. They're running the country and qualified out of their brains. If anything they don't get paid enough. Not sure Rayner is that qualified TBF, or most of the labour front bench. While politicians wages don’t seem that high they always seem to come out of it pretty wedged? Quote

I get paid (not much by the way) to write articles for industry publications. It’s easy enough and so long as it isn’t detrimental to my employer is perfectly acceptable. If it’s ethical and not interfering with their job then they can crack on. Not 100% sure that’ll be the case with some though. Quote

Politicians are elected by us and their salaries are paid directly by us (whether we voted for them or not) to do things that should benefit us. I would increase MP salaries and ban all forms of additional income. Edited September 3, 2025 by Cheese Quote

Should public office be a platform for this type of income? Hard to say really, but it’s murky for sure. Quote

I tend to agree with you that they shouldn’t gain any other advantages, but in a free society, you cannot stop someone from earning a crust once they’ve left the position. Like I say, it’s murky. Can see both sides of the argument. Quote

Once they've left their elected position, they can do what they want. I can't really see the other side of the argument. Lobbying politicians should be a criminal offence of the highest order. They're supposed to serve the electorate, not some greedy rich cunts. Edited September 3, 2025 by Cheese Quote

You know full well it isn't 'knickers in a twist' but simply political expediency. You can't expect any opposition to miss an opportunity to bale in on something like this - especially those your delightful potty mouth has labelled 'Tory scum'. I'll just be pleased to see the repulsive specimen crash and burn and retire to live in undeserved comfort near Volks' railway. Quote
