Afua Hirsch, well know left wing broadcaster, lawyer and human rights activist wants Nelsons Column torn down 'because he was a white supremacist'. "If they are doing it in America.............."

Thankfully, there are brighter folk around like Maajid Nawaz

I await with interest the Lord Mayor of Londons comments.

Probably the most factually incorrect post this board has ever seen. And there's been some tough competition.

  • Colston was a slave trader.   Nelson a national hero.   I think I can see a difference.

Can we not just have a dedicated and easily policed thread 'Bigotry Corner' or sommat? Like with telly, music etc. threads. Then there can't be any tiresome accusations of "shutting down 'debate'..."

indigenous white heterosexual males have less rights than virtually every other demographic in the country.

I wonder if I can guess who gave you the +1's. Not difficult.

Go on then, explain how this is factually incorrect.

I can only think of one right that a gay person has over me, and if I remember correctly you argued I shouldn't have it anyway.

In fairness you did make a bit of a "catch all" statement that you yourself know is not true, hopefully

Do you really believe that I have less rights than the black bloke who delivers our post, or the gay bloke that works at Mrs Sweeps firm

There's a pattern

He throws out bullshit - it gets shown to be bullshit and then he'll pretend he was fishing all along.

Tiresome

No doubt we will soon have to consider whether Arkwright, Crompton, Kay and Hargreaves should have all memorials removed from cotton towns for their implicit involvement in processing the fruits of (obnoxious and regrettable) slave labour.

Unfortunately I think you are correct and we may end up going down this path. If so, then the reasons for the memorials/statues should be debated. Thankfully I think good sense would win out. These were not built/erected like the statues in the Southern States, many or which were put up to deliberately glorify the white man's power

bolty - what are your thoughts on Stan Grant's recent comments regarding the Captain Cook statue? And what is the general consensus amongst the non-aboriginal population?

I ask as eldest daughter recently emigrated to Brisbane and commented on it today. Genuine question. Not trying to dig you out or anything like that

fwiw I actually agree with his "moderate" stance on it that the inscription should be changed rather than jumping on the "tear the statue down" bandwagon - I can see how it could be perceived as offensive

I'll reply to Kent's post in the appropriate thread . . . tsk! ;)

That to me would seem like the best outcome here.  Build up a country's history rather than tear it down.

Same in America;  why not erect statues of black folk who helped create a more equal society and place them alongside white counterparts?

Over here, one gets a cone on top. Over there, they'd get a different pointed hat on. :)

I often find your posts/comments close to the edge bolty but more than not agree with you as the world descends into pathetic correctness

Nothing wrong with correctness at all. We shouldn't hate or accept wrong that has happened in the past, but to seek out things like Afua Hirsch is trying to do is actually worse in my opinion

I also await Sadiq Khan's comments. He was someone who impressed me initially but is slowly spoiling his reputation

Heard recently that a former aid of Tony Blair had openly stated that it was a deliberate tactic of the left 'to use equality and diversity as a stick to beat the right with'.

Well, short term it worked, I suppose, but it highlights why the PC train has ran way off the intended tracks and, imo, has gotten out of control; to the point where folk are fired, or made to resign, for doing nothing more than asking questions or offering facts.

I'm getting all doom-mongery but really hope the politicising of race doesn't turn out to be one of the most divisive social agendas of modern times.  This statue doins is just a symptom of it.

They do

There's even one of Tupac in Atlanta

The Michael Jackson statue was removed from Craven Cottage by racists.

Give it rest FFS Mick. No fishing here - you just don't want to admit the truth.

What a fantastic role model ;)

Perhaps that should be removed due to his murky affiliations with nefarious activities?

Manc, you don't have to dig me out mate. Some of the dimmer folk on here have yet to realise that to have a good and lively debate, you need a catalyst. Some, of course, would rather shut down debate on anything which pricks their over inflated guilt complex altogether - delicate doily's that they are.

I don't really have a problem with changing inscriptions on statues or whatever. An attempt to completely erase the history however is just plain fucking stupid.

The aboriginal question down here is much more complex than some of your local do-gooders up there would have you believe. When you have lived amongst them and seen them in their natural state in the outback, you can't help but have a different view than the interminable 'racist', 'downtrodden', 'invasion', imperialist' utter shite spouted by numb as pigshit reds and their cohorts.

The aboriginals out in the country living the traditional lifestyle are great people. I have met a good number and they are not all the type that want to sit in ditches at 6am in the morning swigging from a sherry flagon. Where the problems do come is when they are exposed to white mans firewater. Schemes have been rolled out to prevent access to this and there seems to have been a good result from this. On going trials with cards for their dole money only having a certain amount which can be spent on alcohol with other amounts only able to be spent on food, clothing and power supplies etc. Incredibly, there are lefties who object to this 'affront to their human rights when they can't spend their money freely how they wish'. Mind boggling.

Where it gets less palatable is in the cities where they often succumb to all sorts of substance abuse (glue, petrol sniffing etc.). Then of course there are the mixed race ones - some whiter than me and you - who are savvy, know how to play the system and are quite adept at negotiating the legal system. Some of these have become quite wealthy.

There have been protests for a while now on January 26th (Australia Day) led by these mixed race types who call it invasion day. Two councils in Victoria (predictably Labor as the spelling goes down here) will not celebrate Australia Day in January and will have a tea and sympathy day on an alternative date which will be 'gender-neutral, non-confrontational and in keeping with Labor values of liberty, brotherhood, sisterhood and egalitarianism'. Not quite completely understood this title yet but fuck me, the posters will chew up a few trees! That will please the greenies.

No doubt some comments in this latest post will get some of them hopping. Good here innit?

Even as a pre pube she got me twitchin . . .

As an aside the golfer, Bubba Watson, bought the original 'General Lee' form the series but was pretty much forced to paint over the flag on the roof so as not to offend.

Never go out for a night out in Tennant Creek on giro day. That would be my advice.

Give it rest FFS Mick. No fishing here - you just don't want to admit the truth.

I'm all for the truth Bolty lad.

In the interests of truth name me one right a minority in the UK has over me.

I can only think of gay folk being able to have a civil partnership, which is fucked up in my opinion. Other than that I'm struggling.

Happy to be enlightened by your good self .

All f*cking Abos must f*cking hang...

I can't think of one either*, although that doesn't mean there aren't any....................but if there are, I'm getting on OK without having that same right, so let them crack on.

*apart from the bummers civil partnership one, which I agree is a bit odd (odd as in it's not been extended to allow heterosexual couples attaining one)

I read somewhere that looney American lefties are demanding all 145 episodes of The Dukes Of Hazzard are remade, with politically correct erm, corrections, such as renaming the Duke boys' car as 'The Abbie Hoffman' and the Confederate Flag on its roof replaced with a peace sign.

They'll have their work cut out for these new namby pamby reshoots as Boss Hogg, aka actor George Melly, died in 1979.

In the remakes Daisy Duke (pictured below) will be portrayed by KD Lang.MV5BMTIyODMyNDEwNF5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTYwOTIw
